A few months ago I've rekindled my childhood hobby of cycling.

Currently using a Merida hardtail and have been riding solo. Plan on switching to a road bike soon.

Is it worth joining Team Vitality? I'd love to hear your experiences. Basically looking to join a club that I can do group rides with and improve my skills.

TIA

I think that Team Vitality is only active as a cycling club with regular group rides in JHB.

If you're not in Gauteng then Team Vality's worth depends on how many Vitality sanctioned events you intend to join: Vitality Race Events Calendar - Discovery. You get 50% of your entry back if you finish, so you can recoup your membership fees relatively easily. But be warned that the number of Vitality sanctioned events has been decreasing year on year outside Gauteng as well.

Team Vitality seems much more geared towards runners.

Whilst the thread is over 10yrs now, and the early stuff not relevant, might be worth reading the last couple of pages

It’s no longer 50%.

Just adding on to this. A couple of years back this was brilliant. There were loads of races and was 100% worth it. However, every year there are less and less races on the calendar. And the most frustrating part is they are not upfront about which races are included. So for 2025 the calendar only runs till April so they add them as they go along. And with the cash back only 25% now and not much races, it is not worth it for me any longer.
