Thanks for the advice all.

I think logically a new GX cassette would be the quickest and easiest solution. I don't think Shimano is on the cards now, as I'll likely need a new hub to fit microspline. Or maybe I should just get a new wheelset while I'm at it...

I've heard some people use two chains and alternate every 100km or so, think this is the way to go.

Just buy  chain checker and replace the chain before it gets to 0.5%. Your cassette and chainiring will last at least 4 chains if you keep doing this - My GX Eagle cassette is on it's 5th chain and still going strong.

Is it an option to fit the newer 10-52t cassettes without upgrading to the Lunar derailleur? My LBS has the 10-52t GX cassette for a bit cheaper than the original 10-50t and says it has been done successfully. I'm just worried it will lead to further shifting frustration in the future.

I can’t answer on the derailleur question, but just see if you can ride a 52t example first. There are some very weird jumps in what I find to be important places and I find it really messes with my rhythm. Of course we’re all different but that’s been my finding. Maybe a person gets used to it but I really struggle to. I personally find the 10-50 to be spot on.

It probably can be done. Whether it affects shift performance im uncertain.

10-52 can work on some dual suspension bikes with the older Eagle derailleurs, but not all. It depends on travel and ANti Squat.
If not, you will have to upgrade the pulley cage to a 52T compatible unit.
