So...

In absolutely no derogatory way... did some E-bikes catch up to the slower rear of the 65 pack.

Just gonna say, the way they pushed some of the poor people out of the way, flying past on some sections, it did not look emotionally healthy... for them.

One guy pulled past some poor girl in front of us, struggling up this hilly section, muttering abuse like Harvey Epstein on roids, all the way to the top. You could really hear him going at her.... and the image... reminded me of my baby girl throwing down her toys and storming off when she doesn't get her way.

I'm not judging E-bikes, well, I do all the time, but more about people flipping out and passing others, that it looks like they are looking for third base, don't get their way, and bursting off in typical "ag siestog fashion".

See, looks like Rage Quit.. Maybe there is a better term?

I finished mid pack and had a couple e bikers blow past at thats definitely not chipped at all speeds .

Also saw some individuals re routing themselves on shortcuts.

I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of singletrack. Had loads of fun.

On the E-bike rage-quit topic:

When I got to the underwhelming waterpoint (I wasn't expecting a buffet - but at least some sugary stuff to snack quickly) there was a person  who's Ebike derailleur battery was dead (kinda counterproductive to have a huge battery, but the wee gear-changer thingy doesn't run off it.)

This person made it abundantly clear that he was not willing to wait for the sweep vehicle, and riding purely on his battery will not last the rest of the "race". Demanded the organiser's number to summarily send a vehicle to collect him.

I was quite surprised at this lack of resilience displayed by this person.

Due to the event taking place on school grounds, there was no beer tent. Something that was sorely missed, people sat around looking depressed, some even distraught. Some brave souls had some of the Zero beer on offer, but even when I concentrate really hard, and squint slightly, it still does not taste like beer.

More toilets please.

Also saw a Junior lady going at quite a pace, with what I assume was her mother (or spirit animal) on an Ebike giving her a push on the dirt roads. Wanted to get a race number, but my uhhm, slow ass, only saw the back of them briefly.

Have helicopter parents now changed mode of transport to E-bikes?

I'm really trying to not have animosity towards ebikes, due to the acessibility factor, but there's always one or two soiling the image of the collective.

There is an ebike for sale on this very platform that is advertised as being assisted to 60km/h. The seller and a few of his pals have "won" various ebike events over the past few years. Regardless of your views on ebikes, that is blatant cheating. Don't know what race organisers can do to stop this behaviour, but it really smacks of a poor upbringing or some emotional development problem.

On the 65km a guy with an old school unassisted bike in A Batch pushed my friend off the singletrack at a technical section.

Got a nasty cut on the knee.

Guy didn't even apologise, just muttered something like get your old slow ass out of A Batch next time.

PS - Next year: No beer, no me.
