I'm a bit confused. WP Cycling just posted this:

But on the CSA website, you have the option to purchase a day racing license for either the TT or the road race:

Am I misunderstanding what "day license" means?

Is that day license not in lieu of membership, and what WP Cycling is referring to is the racing license?

All very confusing. I'd honestly just buy the day license and go with it if I were so inclined since the CSA website has it listed...

the official word from CSA , its part of the membership portal and it cannot be changed. so if you have purchased a day license and you also have a csa / racing license , you will be refunded on request. non csa members may purchase csa membership without belonging to an affiliated club. just choose the virtual regional club ie Cape Metro / Cape Winelands / Eden etc etc depending on where your residential address is. the csa membership will allow you to enter any csa sanctioned event apart from SA's

So there are 3 things in play here:
- CSA License (R325)

- Racing License (R600)

- Day License (R70) (no clear wording if this replaces a CSA license or a Racing license, though I suspect the former)

Day license is only applicable to cyclists who are not CSA members.
If you are a CSA member (not a day license), you can elect to purchase racing license which makes you eligible to participate in national champs, also (upcountry in big races at least) to be seeded in the racing bunches.

Reading the Combined Provincial Championship Technical Handbook (I expect the WC Champs rules to be much of a muchness):

Licenses:
The Championship is an open Provincial Championship for any Province in South Africa. Podiums will only be awarded to Gauteng, North West, Mpumalanga, Limpopo and Free State riders who have applied for and were issued with a Cycling SA Full Racing License for 2025. There will be 5 different podiums for the various provinces.
The U/11 – U/17 categories require only Cycling SA membership.
