I recently noticed my right shoe feels different, when off the pedals, compared to my left shoe. Turns out, if I try flexing the shoe with my hands the right side definitely feels less stiff. Like, stiffness index 6 (made up number) compared to 9 (left side). I can't visibly see cracks, so it may be delamination between the different layups.

I'm not sure what caused this... (over torquing cleats? hard dismount on rocks?, etc.), as the shoes are barely two years old.

Is this normal for MTB carbon shoes? Do I downgrade these to commuting and get a new pair? I guess there's no real repair solution here.

I had two scott shoes crack on me. One was carbon, out of warranty, tried a more flexible one after that, still cracked within warranty so at least got a refund. Now on Shimano, so holding thumbs.

Slightly off topic, but is there any other shoe you would recommend? I'm looking for something light, 2-bolt, hopefully breezy, for road and gravel. Googling basically gets me to the Recon and Shimano RX-801, but if there are other options I should be looking at I'd be very happy to save some bucks.

Look at the Lake Mx238 Gravel or MX30G (very breezy)
