Hi Hubbers, I'm trying my luck, I'm looking for a square taper power meter crank set if someone maybe got one that is hiding away in that cupboard full of random stuff. I know SRM was one of the brands and some more.

I got a Cycleops Pt 300 pro unit that I got free from the forum years ago that was faulty. The power reading unit on the hub went dead, it's common problems on this setup. That time Cycleops wanted me to ship this this 29kg wheel to them so that they can check it out, and I gave it a skip because shipping that weight that time will cost allot.

So I drop a cadence and speed sensor on it and run it like this for some years. Fast-forward a few years later, married live, busy house, back on the bike and a 6 year old boy that is cycling to, I took the unit out of storage so that I can use it while he is using the TACX Vortex smart unit "keeps him busy ;) " and with Cape Town winter on us, indoor training will work better.

I like the feeling of the Cycleops unit more because it's a solid unit. There is two ways "maybe 3" to go, is to check if I can find a Square taper power meter crank, spotted someone doing it on youtube and it works.

Other option is going pedal power meter base or I need to pull the Bottom Bracket on it and see if it will take a BSA bottom bracket and drop new type crank on it, but this we will keep for last resort of doing things.

So if someone maybe got a Square taper power meter crank that is still working, let me know please.

Thanks

Damn Joh , were you c-section or natural birth because you told your whole life story except that part 😂

SRM or Infocrank were the only square taper crank pm options.

The old style in the old days 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 hahahahaha love your comments @DieselnDust so do you maybe have one? 😁

Pulled the drive side crank arm off and it's actually a isis bb. Need to get a 8 tooth spile tool to remove the bottom bracket to see thread size is inside.

Not any more, sold it years ago when i downgraded from Campag Record to Dura Ace. Campy square taper is different to Shimano and other brands anyway so you would have needed a Campy BB as well.

OK ISIS makes it more of a challenge. I think the Verve Info crank was the only ISIS compatible PM crank. I'm not aware of any others and Verve has moved away from the PM business to focus on medical equipment

I'm maybe in luck, I just need to get a tool to pull the Bottom Bracket first and check. It's 68x113 ISIS BB that got the normal BSA thread that is inside the Cycleops unit. So will change it out to with BSA bottom bracket and get a crank. Maybe import a chines one again like i did few months ago.

for the price of a pedal based Power meter my suggestion is get a 2nd hand crank base power meter like a xcadey and just put in the correct BB for it. Pedal power meters are a bit over priced. the only nice thing about them is that they are ease to swap from bike to bike

Wil check to import a new one from Alixpress again. Did it last month for my road bike
