Hi everyone, my 5 year old is ready to get her first bike. I'm looking for a pink bike.. Yes.. The light Barbie pink.. In 20" and specifically with training wheels. I've seen the Avalanche Antex ,https://solomonscycles.co.za/product/avalanche-antix-20-steel-frame-junior-girls-mountain-bike-2025/?utm_source=Google Shopping&utm_campaign=Solomons Cycles&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=adtribes&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=23518441802&gclid=CjwKCAjwn4vQBhBsEiwAq3hhN8lAk561rZago97_44p-ot7GMxBSMbaf3Y8zXSnrobO2PB45IY7ufhoCFFUQAvD_BwE but the rhubarb and cream colour is a non-starter. I have seen that there are other pink 20"but the guys at Solomons say that you can't put training wheels on most 20"bikes as they have gears..  I wonder if these work (https://www.decathlon.co.za/p/302106-108573-20-and-24-kids-bike-stabilisers.html?gad_campaignid=22303306686&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwwpDQBhAuEiwAa-4Wo7G2sEoYdWsoQOjIS4grnN_VTImjlcHYYgMATNfqSkQqHg3Jc_C0wRoCsuMQAvD_BwE&utm_campaign=za_t-perf_ct-pmax_ts-bra_f-cv_o-conv_spd-msp_spu-msp_sp-msp_fo-mix_at-dem_xx-feed_only_campaign&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=Google

My question.. Any good 20" pink bikes I should consider available in Joburg that can have training wheels on them? I have heard that I should avoid Raleigh and Kerb. Help!!

My advice is to avoid training wheels

Rather spend the time learning to balance from the start

It's a much more invested way to go for the parents, but the kid doesn't then have to re learn the fundamentals of riding a bike again later

I looked at it.. I fear it may be too advanced. Something without gears makes more sense to me at this stage. I want to avoid anything that could put her off cycling as she learns. I had a bike that was too big and heavy as a kid and hated it. Took me years to get back in to bikes after that. (no training wheel too). I want her to understand the freedom and autonomy that cycling brings.. Basic rules.. Then incentivise her by removing the wheels when she is ready.. Hopefully this will work.

My 6 year old is on a 20" with gears now and it allows her to ride hills and routes around town she couldn't with her 16" single speed. For the 16", single speed was perfect as her first pedal bike.

Also as mentioned above both girls transitioned from balance bike to pedaling instantly without needing training wheels.
