Just find a super steep 8 k climb and ride up and down it a few times at threshold. Guarenteed to help you ride what ever you want in what ever gear you want

I rode away from you many times........

Only on some of the hills in the beginning' date=' when you actually bothered to turn up at races!

Anyway, I am talking about the sprints, where I would have kicked your butt if you actually made it to the sprint!

I just had a look at the League table to refresh my memory.  I wanted to compare our results, but I couldn't be bothered to go that far down the list to find your nameWink

You sure it not your name? If you look closer and have time it is about 13min on each race from "us" in the front group in the 2 events.Wink

LOL We have this "team" concept where we ride for the guy with the best chances in a race.  You familiar with that?  Rello and I rode domestique for Steve in the first three races as he had the best form and he is the best climber in the team.  We were actually quite chuffed he made the front group.  I had spent my self by the time we got to Misty Cliffs (if I remember correctly Christian also slaved there for you) so just cruised home.  Hence my anonimity in the first couple of rides.  My results got a lot better on the flat bits, but by then you were unfortunately 'sick'

I ride a compact 50/36 with a 11/23 cassette' date=' pretty nice setup for a 95kg cyclist. I won?t say anything about climbing since we are climbing with the hub on Sunday.

I would like to convert to 53/39 11/23 10 speed?some day.

That some day came, I now ride a 52/39 11/23 (some races a 12/25)

Only reason to ride on the road is to build a bit of speed and fitness for MTB. smiley1.gif

I ride; I don't race, so I have a compact crank set on my road bike and love it.

There are also other reasons why some buy a compact. I use a 34/50 with 11-23 - better speed on 50/11 and climbing ease on 34/23 compared to 39/53 and 12-25. Also fewer duplicate gear ratios - see FSA website. I found this comparison quite interesting:

Low speed

Changes between each gear are the same (cssettes re the same). The tradeoff is easier climbing as the expense of a small loss of top speed. This s the lightest configuration for either set up.

Low speed now almost the same. 11-23 cassette is heaver with gear ratios wider apart.

The 12-25 cassette lowers the top speed on the conventional Crankset and makes climbing easier but at the cost of even wider gear ratios and weight.

With slightly wider gear ratios the 11-23 cogs further ease climbing with the Compact Crankset while maintaining top speed.

12-27 is about the biggest (heaviest) cassette seen on Tri Bikes. Almost the same climbing can be achieved with the 11-23 cogs with a compact Crankset with a higher top speed, closer gearing and reduced weight.
