Are you obsessed with cycling?

In the latest Ride mag  there is an article about it. Where do you fit in?

Is it controlling your life? Where do one draw the line?

I get home from a braai with cyclists and what's the first thing I do? See what's up on the hub...maybe, just maybe, I am obsessed, but just a little bit.

Well, you tell me ? yesterday and today <?: prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Cape Town had their worst storm in +-10 years. Yesterday morning I still backed my van at 6h50am to do The Outriders ?Leg Loosen?er? The weather was (and still is) very, very bad. I still went, plus there were another 18 guys who turned up. We could not ride, but I was really impressed that I was not the only one who came to the meeting spot? <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

My cycling pretty much controls my social arrangements, I leave parties and braais early because I'm riding the following day, I plan social arrangements with other cycling buddies to watch the tour/Epic etc, I plan family holidays around MTB trails that I haven't done yet.... hmmm....I think it's probably an obsession

In the afternoon I took the family to do some ?storm damage watching? in Sea point. Still kicked myself that I could not slip-in a quick cycle ride! <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I have a bike chain around my armSmile

My room:

I mounted my two casualties (i.e my two Orbea frames that i crashed) on my wall above my bed...where i can touch them when i lift my left hand.Tongue

Two sets of wheels are arranged on the wall next to the one with the framesSmile

A Lampre top also on that wallBig%20smile

All the "hey-you-completed-a-funride" medals also on a wall.LOLEmbarrassed

(i'll see if i can post photos later)

i sometimes wear my club jacket when going out

I ask my dad whether i can take my road bike with on Dec.holidays and then sneak the mountain bike in too (hidden under blankets etc), so when we unpack i'm like "huh?? Where'd both bikes come from?"LOLEmbarrassed

The only thing that i watch on TV is the Tour...so basically a TV is kinda useless for me in 11 out of the 12 months of the year.Shocked

I have photo sessions where i only take fodies of my gorgeous babies!Star

When thinking about getting a bf...first question - "do you cycle" him: "no"... me: "uhm...nice knowing you" LOLLOL

i have leg-fetishes and can spot a cyclist from a mile away.

So far, all the places i've gone without my parents were with the club/other cyclists.

Apart from the school people...prabably about 95% of my friends are cyclists.Smile

Nahhhh...i don't think i'm obsessed....Wink

Not sure but no one said that they are obsessed with cycling... Okay I will say it then...

I have an obsession with cycling.

I also have to agree with Nellie on relationships... Cyclist oh yes but non cyclist maybe (in the rare case that the person is super hot and interested in me)

I must be the odd one out here, cycling for me is just another "pass time" - I enjoy it but if I cant / dont feel like going, I dont beat myself up about it.

I enjoy a variety of sports, I like running, cycling, swimming, hiking, golf  (okay maybe its not a sport) canoeing, water skiing and I have recently just got qualified as a scuba diver - I can see I am gonna enjoy this as well.

As for leaving parties early or skipping a night out with mates or my wife - not gonna happen - I find that simply too "one dimensional", Bruce Fordyce once said "he never associates with other runners, cos then thats all he hears and talks about" - I tend to agree, cycling , running talk is fine in small doses but I get quickly bored when all I hear is how fast you are, or how much you train, or how you LIVE for cycling, running etc - get a life man, its a big world, lots to do and see.!

In short, yes, I like to be moving, but with all my joints and muscles not just the rotational ones on my lower limbs.!
