Just get the All clusters with the MTB permit and you're good to go MTB in any reseve where MTB is allowed for a year.

What is that in english and step by step?

All clusters is the national Wild card. It's R195 and gives you unlimited entries to NAtional Parks Reserves.

You still need the level 3 MTB permit, .@R200

R395 and you can ride anywhere in SANParks MTB sanctioned reserves

Actually I understand it as follows. And I have spoken to the JNB and CPT wildcard managers about it.<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The Cape Town WILD Card (the R45 one) is only applicable to the following <?:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Table Mountain National Park points:  Cape Point (cycle), Tokai (cycle), Boulders Penguin Colony, Oudekraal, Silvermine (cycle), Newlands and Perdekloof. You can load the R200 mtb permit on it.  Now for the good part. Every time you use this card (with the added mtb permit) and you enter with your bike then it DOES NOT use up one of the cards allocated 12 entries. Thus, you can enter unlimited amount of times with this card as long as you have your bike with you. If you enter without your bike then 1 entry will be deducted.

Now for the funny part.  That R200 mtb permit is ONLY applicable to the Cape Town?s Wild card (Table Mountain National Park) and NOT to the other parks.  Thus you can still ride at ANY of the other parks, reserves with only your normal wild card (whether it is a cape, bushveld, dry, river or swazi cluster). You do not have to load that R200 permit in order to ride in the other parks ONLY Table Mountain National Park requires it. Many of the wildcard telephone operators are NOT aware of this at all. I discovered it by chance while debating with the wildcard JNB manager.

Thus, to ride unlimited times in Tokai for 1 year will only cost you R45 + R200. All the others parks only require the normal wildcard NOT the additional R200.

TitusTi - we haven't been graced with your titanium monstrosity....whats heppening?

for that matter' date=' no 29ers in 8 pages.......
[/quote']

My bike lives in my room, I don't carry pictures of it around with me. You probably won't ever see another 29'er in this country, I honestly think I'm the only one riding the bike, not sure why? Is every one that rides a bike in this country also a short ass?

Why do you ride a 29'er.What are the advantages  or is just a quirky thing like a single speed

This is always an interesting question. I originally got one because I'd been interested  by the stories of guys that have been riding them. People like me where all unnanimous in their praise for it, and by people like me I mean people over 6 foot. Any normal bike I buy has a long wheelbase, now I can actually get advantages, Mint's mentioned some of them. Also the bike is so damn comfortable! The one thing I quite like is when you go into a corner with lots of braking ruts it tends to smooth them out because the 29'er has a different braking frequency. It's also nice to actually be in proportion to my bike instead of sitting on top of a clown bike, only the tall guys will be able to sympathise here. How tall are you Kranswurm?

hi Ti - i'm looking for a new bike at the moment. i know you don't bother looking or talking about hardtails anymore these days Smile , but my budget doesn't allow a race quality suspension bike yet.

as a fellow 6 ft plus mountain biker, would you still suggest considering the benefits of a 'niner if it's a HT? i'm kind of identifying with what you're saying about riding a 26' wheeled bike...

who's selling 'niner HT's in the local market?

Do yourself a favour and go to www.speedgoat.com they've got a special at the moment on the Salsa Dos Niner plus a Reba SL fork plus a headset for $999, or in our money about 7 grand? You're gonna be there soon aren't you? It's a softail and has got some nice write up's, I was actually thinking of getting one but don't have the money. Or for a really cool bike check out the Surly Karate Monkey, a steal 29'er, comes with a rigid fork, if you really need a suspension fork, I've got a White Bro you can have real cheap. Local market you're stuck with the Gary Fisher's, I know Bowmans has one at the moment, complete bike around 10 grand. V-Brakes not discs though. Give me a shout if you wanna test my baby? Just so you know what you're getting yourself into?

Hi TT' date='

Interesting stuff this.

I'm 6'3.5"

Riding a XL Cannondale HT at the moment
[/quote']

You are a prime candidate for an upgrade to a man sized bike in that case. Look at the Hubbers ride Mints wants to test my bike, I see no reason why you don't give it a go as well, well the only reason would be weight, I only weigh about 74kg.

I'm a prime candidate for a new bike at any rate

Wont be around for the Hubbers ride unfortunately.

When fit I weigh in at 88kg.Working hard to get there at the moment

Only problem when buying such a specialised piece of equipment there is no turning back.
