I am looking at replacing my helmet. What should I look at getting? I know this depends on fit etc but am keen on hearing your views.

I have seen some disparaging remarks about the style of the S-Works. What about the Sweep or Atmos or Uvex?

It will be ridden on the road and on the trail.

I've got a Bell Sweep - nice air vents, fits well, feels comfy.  But it really is better to get a good quality helmet that fits properly.  So if Bell doesn't fit well but Giro does then go for the Giro.

Bell and Giro are owned by the same company in  SA and you pay 30% of the purchase price if you crash it.  I already tried it out and it works (the helmet and the replacement policy)

Atmos is cool, but very expensive.  Sweep is cheaper now that itis being replaced, but the vents are awesome!  Love my Sweep XC Willehond2008-09-09 15:27:01

Bi-annual replacement strategy at Bell.  Bell owns both the Giro and the Bell brand.  The Sweep is a great helmet as helmets go.  It meets the most important criteria - light and ventilated.

If you want comfort with excellent ventilation, look no further than a MET!!!!

Once it's on your head you soon forget that you are wearing a helmet.

Personal fit again, not brand. I went through all of them from MET, LAS, Bell, Giro and some no name brands. From the top of the range 199gr MET to the bottom of the range Serfas. The one that fit my head the best was the Bell Delirium.

Remember to leave some space when trying one on because in winter you will wear some kind of head covering.

Spiuk is a bit of an outsider. Have you tried one?

Its venting holes dont look as big as say the Giro range. Is it for the brand conscious?
