Need your help once again people... What is the strongest lightest wheel you can build? Needs to be Disc and weight must include skewers. Thanks

Can be tubeless or not....not an important factor right now

Price is limited to R3500 and you must list your sources.... If from a website include VAT into your price.

Prize to the winner with the wheel I like best is a mystery but there is a prizeWinkWinkWink

Got a set of Easton XC Ones which i may decide to sell soon. R3500 sounds about right. Less than 700km on the wheels, and they match all the criteria above...

XC ONES weigh around about 1600 grams a set.

I'd go for ZTR Olympic rims on XT hubs with Dt Swiss competition spokes, think you can get a build like that for around about 3.5 to 3.8K. Its super tough and is pretty bomb proof, should also weigh under 1600 grams. Lots of upgrade potential. You can upgrade the bearings, axle, free hub and skewers as they wear out or when you want to.

Dont want the cheapest jules best value for money vs weight etc....

So far Mampara in the lead when it comes to price.... but Zaskar might have something going there

I say they are the best value for money. In my humble opinion, if you spend more on wheels than the Mavics, you are only paying for a reduction in weight. The bearings and strength are both of a high quality in the bottom of the range Mavics.

I don't think a few hundred grams off your wheelset would make any significant difference to your race times or your riding pleasure.

Jules I tend to agree but sometimes Im a weight wennie and this might be one of those times lol..... Where did you buy your Mavics from and which ones?

Designed to inspire the most demanding XC rider, the XC One is up to 10% lighter than competing wheels ? AND as much as 36% stiffer. This translates into superior control when the trail gets gnarly. You'll feel like you're riding on a rail. Self-adjusting preload makes for easy setup and eliminates wheel wobble.
