I've always used clean green and other stuff for my road bikes over the years ..but  now , new to Mtb....the mudd and clay...sticks even after a wash.

Any advice?

Sunlight and warm water, rinse with a gentle hose, use parrafin with a paint brush on the chain and cassette, petrol cleans too agressively.

Polish the bike afterwards with Mr. Min.

I got me a bottle of Finish Line's bike wash and although we do not have mud up here yet, it did clean the bike fast. Wet with water, spray on, rinse off and dry. I did not even have time to get the brush and bucket.
