The road to Hekpoort is dangerous (Road narrow) and add a bicycle to the mix it would mean possible accidents waiting to happen with some drivers. If you ride alone (training) it is your choice to face the danger. I know there is an indemnity from the organisers that you compete at own risk but the choice of route. You can ride in the cradle and still make up the distance. You will be faced by congestion because of other training rides but it will be a safer bet IMO.

I dunno had no traffic issues

we actually had marshals this time

Yes some roads are narrow but in most cases the cars just passed without any problems

I think I got more out of this event than D2D and the racing was still hard, after the 4 man break formed, we were only ten that drove the pace in the main group.

Could only get rid of the wheelsuckers after the hekpoort section. And the group splintered as we went through magalies with multiple attacks from everyone.

Managed to finish 8th with Qubeka and Bonitas taking the first few spots.

My only suggestion for this race would be to start at 6, which means the slower riders will get less traffic.

And there-in lies my answer  ;)

Do any of you know if someone took some pictures. I saw there was a Guy taking some photo's of the front group.

It was my First Ride with the Elite Guys. And it was a suffer fest... Maybe because of the Alloy bike

an alloy bike wont make you slower

you legs does, yes yes yes carbon is the upgrade, but if you have the legs you can still do great on an alloy bike.

there is a few guys riding VA on alloy's

In This race there was a young bloke also on a alloy helping with the pace making till be splintered on the last hill
