I have noticed a very slight bend in my Bontrager Race Light seatpost. It's on a TREK EX8 MTB, the seatpost has not been extended to anywhere near its' maximum. I think it took a knock when one of my feet came out / off the pedal when going over a jump and I landed with most of my weight on the seat. Ouch

Anyway, is there any way that it could be straightened and does anyone have any recommendations?

I would like to salvage the current one if possible, it is a very slight bend and want to know whether anyone has had one straightened and if it is possible. No bucks after buying new bike to buy bling bits!!!

The Thomson post is going to set me back R780.00.

Anyone got one lying around somewhere?

I might have one available in about 2 weeks' time. Very good condition, straight, 30.9, 367mm. Not sure if that will fit the Trek.

I bent my Ritchey seatpost almost two years ago. Still riding on it. Decided not to bend it again, scared of weakening the aluminium. Just check constantly to see if the bend worsens, and check for any irregularities around the bend area, that's a danger sign.

Thanks BG I need 400mm length' date=' 31.6mm diameter[/quote']

Hope you come right, mate. I have successfully increased my length yesterday to 410mm, but the diameter stayed the same. I hope this will improve my performance for a better (longer and harder) ride.

The heading of this thread sounds like the follow up to Brokeback Mountain gone terribly wrong.

I like the feeling of Mr Thomson underneath me bum. Big, black and VERY stiff. Did I mention he's ribbed? LOLLOLLOLLOL
