They hurt like hell!!! - my ass is a lot happier on a Fizik Confused

I'll second that' date=' the 143 and my a$$ didn't get on and I persisted for 2 whole painful months. Ouch

The Fizik on my race and Regal on my commute bikes get along just fine with my derriere Wink

143 is made for a fat backside(like mine), maybe you got the wrong size.

Think you'll find the sizes are relative and best fit comes most cases with the help of the a$$ometer.

All comes down to particular personal egonomics.Embarrassed

Just goes to show how each person's experience differs. I'm very happy with my gel version on the MTB, but it was very uncomfortable on the road bike. Sadly saddles are trial and error!

I have the phenom SL and love it sometimes forget it's there Wink

But saddles are definately and individual thing, what works for one might not work for another.

The nice thing is my LBS gave me 2 weeks to try out the saddle and providing there were no scuff marks I could return it if I did not like it.

Ok so Ive narrowed it down to the Specialised Phenom range of saddles, Ive had me butt tested and they say im in between a 130 & 143mm - Now the question lies in

I do realise its twhich Phenom to get? Phenom Comp Gel, Phenom Ti Gel or the Phenom Gel. If Im mid way between the 130 & 143 mark, which one to go for?

I do realise this is purely down to personal opinion but just need some further feedback please :) But Ive narrowed it down to these 3 finally

I can't tell from your post if you want the saddle for a road or mountain bike. When I got measured I was also told I fell between 130 and 143 option.

If it is for a road bike and you spend a lot of time on the drops ( i.e. leaning forward and low ) then 130 would be my choice.

If it is for a MTB then you have a more upright position and the 143 would be my choice as your sit bones would be better supported.

And lastly, I would go for the Phenom Gel with CroMo rails. Reasons are it is a lot cheaper than the Ti and if you fall the CroMo will be less likely to bend, so better suited to MTBing ( unless it is for a road bike, then get the Ti if you want to spend the extra cash for saving a couple of grams).

Will they let me buy/ pay for a Specialized saddle from an overseas shop and get it delivered in the UK if Im buying from a UK store? From what Ive heard & seen Specialized do not export there saddles. Will I get charged VAT or Tax when I place the order & pay for it from South Africa?
