Nice idea' date=' but the teams will not do it... They all have doping specialists on the payroll... sorry, that was supposed to be anti-doping specialists and in house testing regimens...

[/quote']

then they dont ride... its not like the organizers wont get teams to fill their spot. In total its around 56000 euro's (willehond - whats their annual budget - you posted it the other day) to test every rider on your team for the duration of the TDF. The teams can fire their doping specialists (who are getting WAY more than that anyways).

Look at whats happened in the last TDF. Barloworld wanted to/is going to end sponsorship because of doping. How many other sponsors want to pull out because the riders on the teams they sponsor are being caught, and the sponsors name is now associated with doping.

I reckon if you added it to the bill the sponsors would go for it. Whether or not the team managers/doctors would go for it is another story.

Ok, but the teams that "fill the spot" are second rate hacks.... I am not tuning in to watch Konica Minolta (no offence) or some other team that I can stay with given a weeks training, plod around France. I want to see the best of the best donner each other on the roads in July... The ASO make their money from TV rights. Simple...

Listen china' date=' us dutchmen call it Peking.  Oraait?

...and if you don't believe me (or Flemish Lion), read this (OK, try to read it):

De Nederlandse Taalunie heeft een jaar of tien geleden een lijst met buitenlandse aardrijkskundige namen opgesteld. Daarin is gekozen voor Peking. "De Werkgroep heeft als benaming voor de hoofdstad het exoniem Peking bewaard, omdat zij de indruk heeft dat de donornaam Beijing onvoldoende is geaccepteerd."
[/quote']

Peking? Whats next Parys? These Dutchmen twist everything. Just 'cos they run rugby they think they can.

On the topic at hand, Wits Centre for Exercise and Sports Medicine has been appointed to do the testing for the 2010 WC. ANyone know what levels of testing they do? Apparently one of their main reasons for rgetting it was their proximity to Joburg Gen.
It's Parijs!!!  Aaag, g'verdomme, I give up.

Netherlands? Holland? What are you guys on?Shocked They should really introduce doping tests in that land of windmills and clogs.

or are you saying you want them to carry on doping? so you and the ASO support doping?

HA! I found the problem! its BOB and the ASO - they're in cahoots...

but in all seriousness, if the ASO is serious about cleaning up the sport, then that is what they will do. If they care more about money, then why not go the whole hog and make it like WWE. They can script the win weeks before the race even starts...

Give the man a prize...

Untill the sponsors and organisers and by extension, us, the consumers, demand less, as it were, nothing will change. There is too much at stake...

Sadly, purity in modern sport is a pipe dream. Professionalism changes sport; takes away its purity and replaces it with greed. The only pure sport left these days can be found on primary school fields ? I hope...

Nothing will change. Drugs have become part of western culture - caffeine, viagra, prozac, diet pills, headache pills, vitamin pills ......... And human beings evolved to cheat, that's why we (most of us) don't live in caves. Although I'm sure there's a sabre toothed tiger somewhere complaining to WADA about how those damned cheating humans use stones and spears when they should fight with their nails and teeth.

I like the way that AFLD tested for CERA.

  • Speak to the manufacturer.
  • Do not announce you have a test until after you've tested. (next up: HGH and autologous doping)
  • Do not announce whom you'll test until 30 minutes before the finish.
  • Do targeted tests.
  • Ban injections. (next: photograph arteries)
  • Be independent. (important!)

  • Re-test when you've found out what's popular.
  • Hand them over to the police.

If they can get Ricco, et al. to squeal on the supplier, it'll be great.  That's up to the police.

Other things to do: follow the money (a la Schleck)

The alternative is to stick your head in the sand.  I much prefer this.  Catch 'em.  Catch 'em, catch 'em, catch 'em.  A few more years of this, and it'll get clean.  But it needs to be done at all the races on the calendar.  Relentlessly.

As long as there is prize money and incentives there will be people who will be prepared to look for an illegal advantage.

In my mind that is the same as fraud and theft. I sincerely believe that there are no more people doping now than there was 5 years ago. The testing has just improved and the administrators have closed the gap.

The money makes it worth the gamble.

It was announced that the 2008 Peking Olympics urine/blood samples will be kept till 2016 and submitted to the most advanced tests available...

Many heroes could turn into zeros... ditto to cycling...

Damn! Must have missed this. Was it televised?

Exactly like the Beijing Olympics but with ducks??

That?s what happens when you translate stuff in a rush Wink<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Thanks for saving my butt Willehond ? BUT don?t ever call me Dutchmen again ? ever!! LOL

Marc Coucke ? the boss of Silence-Lotto suggested that perhaps they should freeze the start- and prize money of the pro-cyclists on a bank account (not their wage) and release it at the end of their careers ? IF they been dope free?
