Nose it up ever so slightly. I did that with mine and it makes it much more comfy (I usually have a dead level as well). However, I did take my Arione off and put an old-skool San Marco Regal on....

Thats funny, because i have always had mine set up with the nose dropped about 5mm, and that feels the best for me. If i set it level, it feels like im slipping off the back??

I'm with Zaskar on that one. Perhaps your drop from saddle to handlebars is a touch too much causing you to put too much weight forward?

The Arione has a slight bend upwards towards the back of the saddle. The best would be to level the nose(first 20cm's)...from a side on view you will see the curve towards the back.

Don't worry about spirit levels and whether or not the saddle is 5mm up or down. Fiddle with it until it feels comfortable for you. There is no right or wrong here. Your flexibility, arm/torso/femur length ratios, handlebar position and preferences make a difference.

thanks. i will look at that.

im on a giant compact road, very race setup...no spacers under bar.

with previous saddle i had no problem, then again it was 5cm shorter.

will play around moving forward and backwards 5mm at a time.

other that that, its bloody comfy

On a new aroine, the "Stress" lines under the saddle have not broken, which makes it feel wide.  As a result you may "float forward to the narrower nose.  Also the rails of the saddle are longer than the normal saddle.  Check again if your fore and aft position is correct.  Maybe the saddle is too far back on the seat post and your body is self correcting.

I find that the nose should be level and the rear of the saddle slightly flared (5%)

Please show me an Arione (or Gobi for that matter) where these little yellow stress lines are broken/cracked. I have been riding these saddles for nearly 4 years now, and i have yet to see the lines crack to show that the saddle has worn in. I ride an Arione almost daily, and i check it periodically for the signs, but have never seen them myself.

I remember when the Arione came out they made a big deal about the saddle wearing in, and these lines cracking as the saddle moulds to your backside, and they said after 500km or whatever it will be fitted to your ass, and only your ass, but i have never seen or felt it. Ive even bought these saddles secondhand, and they feel just the same as a new one. Confused

(I remember once long ago seeing an article showing a pic of these little cracks, (on cyclingnews maybe?) so i know what to look for, but like I said, I have never seen an actual saddle with them?)

Zaskar, I have been duped by marketing stories.  But I do feel that my "wings" do flex when I am cycling.  The yellow lines become softer maybe?

Posted

Nope my little yellow lines are still intact and nearly 5000km's into the saddle. Also found mine a little awkward in the beginning but now it is great.

As for the wings flexing have never felt that but then again I weigh in at 62kg's so I don't think at my wiehgt I am going to get any little yellow lines to break or anything to flex much for that matter.

So what you are saying is you pay an extra grand and a half to have the little yellow thingies crack and to give the bastard who stole your bike a really uncomfotable ride.
