Remember my protein gel will retail for R18 as you wont use it for every gel, you will use it for every 3rd or 4th gel depending on the distance, i was talking R12 for normal gels, the protein gel will be on special at R15 at expo

One thing that annoys me is people chucking awayt the wrappers mid race.  GU overseas have a campaign that for every "x" number of empty wrappers you send back, you get a full one.

Might reduce the littering??

Okay so the petwhateverpro is not included in the 241 deal? Then it's fine.

So if you take the energy gels and the protien gels I would suggest marking the packets clearly. So that youdo not take the protien one when your suppoe to take a normal energy one. This is where the bigger dispenser would come in handy. Use it for the enrgy gels and leave the protien gels in the little packet.

I want to get it right...but everybody also needs to remember that everything costs money, i have put R2mil into this brand already and everything i do i have done for you guys, the cycling community and listened to you all 2 years ago when i started...

If i get the support i can do more, but its hard when the support isnt there...I love to spend money on helping others, but got to have the money to spend first

Pornstar, I work in an FMCG research company and the first thing we make sure of, is that our clients have distribution. Everyone has mentioned it so far, but if ppl cant find your product they aren't going to buy it (I know it sounds simple, but I also know about listings, trading terms and rebates)

Next thing is try to find out what Rabubi said:

Can you establish the market size? even just in Dischem? For all you know, your growth might be outstripping that of your competitors. In this case, you're driving the market growth, gaining share and actually doing very well.

I'm sure you can chat to Dischem and try to get their scanning data - take the view of trying to grow the category for them and maybe they'll let you see the sales - you can then get an idea of market share and growth

Unfortunately I'm involved in a big project that's going to last a year or more. There's a lot of good web design companies out there, and also a lot of crap ones. You'll get better value out of the smaller ones. I'll PM you some suggestions.

We are the biggest growing gel and i work on distribution all day everyday.

We currently about 25% of gel sales in SA from what we can work out based on numbers but i want o get bigger...better...

The shops say that when people ask for it then they will stock it...age old problem

I purely buy Wasp gels because they work. I have tried and tested all the others, and the things standing out for me is:

Taste - not overpowering sweet.

Kick - no other gel is so effective so quickly (and the boost lasts for a fair time.)

Easy digestible - It is like drinking a liquid. Doesn't get stuck in your throat and repeat itself for two days after your race.

And by the way, the Green Mamba (100mg caffiene) is a monster. Drink it, and you will notice what a gel is supposed to do.

Some interesting comments, although I get the feeling most are just aimed at getting some free gels.

Somebody else said it, "DONT GIVE YOUR PRODUCT AWAY" make people pay for their goods, offer incentives, offer discounts, offer specials etc, but dont give it away free.

This never works, believe me.!

Personally, I think its about "time in the market" I have seen WASP but never bought it, I think I got a packet at an expo once and there may have been one inside, but I cant remember.

Ever since I ran my first Comrades I have used GU, and I will probably never change, Why, well its been around as long as I have been running and cycling, it has a history I can relate to, its like an old friend, sure its more expensive but I dont mind, I see it as value, so maybe you are rushing things a bit, let your product grow in a sustained fashion and slowly gain market share and wider appeal.

As the chains are telling you, "when people ask for it they will stock it" - people only ask for old tried and tested products, you just need to be visible and your market will grow over time until "people are asking for it".

If you say your growth is 25% thats pretty good, few business models could ever hope for that kind of growth, if they get 10% they go "WOW" we grew well.!
