At the end of last year there was a big discussion & drive to get SA Championships moved to an earlier slot, like Just before Argus, so that the New SA Champion could showcase his/her new SA Colours at SA's premier Cycle race... the Argus.

Now it seems that the date allocated for SA's has been moved back to the end of June, when quite a lot of riders are taking a break, and where the weather plays havoc with your planning & training by causing a lot of illness because of training in the cold conditions and in cold/flu season

What is your opinion and preference re date of SA Championships

I'm setting up this poll to gauge what the average cyclist thinks, as well as getting some kind of petition together, so please feel free to participate with constructive comments / reasons (bullsh*t comments & hijacking of topic will be removed...)

March is cool, the oZZies have it in Feb or something. If they want to keep it in june so the international (SA) riders can come out is absurd,  they never come anyway? And robs here anyway in March for the giro, so why not then????

Why don't we just package the SA Champs as the prologue to the Giro?

I like it, include all the overseas riders out here to do the giro as well, first saffa over tghe line is sa champ. Like uspro champs, open to anyone, and the first american home is the champ.

Anybody have any idea as to where it will be held?

Would also support SA's during March!

With Sa's at the end of June you will have to train and peak for that event alone and very few riders would really be at there best during that time.SA's should be about the best riders in the country competing against each other at the top of there game.

What is CSA's reason for a June date? There must be a reason they have scheduled it for June. Personally, I think track cycling should happen in winter and the road season in summer with SA's in Feb or March.

I like the fact that it is in June next year, gives me time to get back in shape... but if I already had form I would say April!! Then the people who win it can go ride in the national jersey in Europe where it means a whole lot more to people than what it means to the local people in South Africa. Also, dont schedule it to fall over some Spring classic... then you def not going to get the European proffies here!! For the guy who started this poll, he can ride in the national jersey the next year at the Argus if it means so much... He does keep the jersey for a whole year and not just 3-4 months...

What a silly, unimaginative and naive comment... Shame.
