Eccentric BB on Tandem and external bearings

Recommended Posts

I have a MTB tandem with a Shimano Octalink BB. This must be the worst BB anybody ever made in the world.

I am considering a Truvativ Firex MTB crankset as a replacement. They have external bearings. Is there enough space between the External Bearings and the BB Shell on the eccentric BB shell. See the Picture below.

Why not look at a Bushnell EBB or a Carver. Probably the best EBB's on the market at the moment.

Are these cranksets or just external BB's. Remember the Big H and Em are just run of the mill cyclists and we do not really need the "best on the market" We need something dependable, not something that packs after less than 3000km.

nope. but was just thinking - no need to overspend on something thats beyond your requirements - of hoe?

Betroubaarheid tel baie meer vir my.

Bushnell & Carver are both Eccentric BB's and any normal (English thread) BB will fit (eg Shimano LX/XT/XTR).

I had a look at their website and I am very impressed with their design. The wedge that splits the BB will not lead to ovalised BB's as is the case with the one I pictures above that uses two large grubscrews. Where can I get these eccentrix and what do they cost? The Truvativ BB's has the same thread as the Shimano external BB's I assume?

Do you know who the Truvativ agents in RSA is?
