They changed the rules at the same time as they changed the one to allow MTB'ers to do crit races. Have you finished filling in the sinkhole yet?

That's why I'm not to happy to do the sruit ride yet, I've still got to get used to these disc brakes.

MTB rides/races have never said no to roadies using their road bikes for a MTB ride... It is not our (MTBers) fault that roadies buy such a limiting bikes
