Chris Jnr said the other day that they have a number of international (asian I think) tours planned for next year.  So all looks well with CPI (or whatever they are going to be called next year).

I heard on Sunday at 94.7  that the C P I will not sponser the Cape Team again in 2009. That is a big blow for the Western Cape Cycling.

What will happen to riders like Chris jnr and Garth ?

You heard 100% wrong. Tongue

I dont think riders that cant race with the Jhb pro's must have a pro contract, and that goes for riders from anywhere in the country. Moolies, Garrett are full time working people, and they're very competitive against the elites. Garth and Chris jnr both very talented, pity they didnt stick it out in Jhb when they had the chance.

The winner of the Tour de Boland, Mike Sowerby cant get a contract in Jhb, Craven was still without a ride last week.

I would hardly consider R800 p/m a pro contract.

After much speculation in the last few weeks Team Charles Potgieter Investments is proud to announce that the Team will be joined by two new riders in 2009. <?: PREFIX = O />

Michael van Staden and Martin Wesemann will join the Team that already consists of Garth Thomas, Chris Willemse jnr. and Abdelbasset Hannachi.

Both Van Staden and Wesemann were part of Team Sotheby?s in 2008.

?I?m very excited to be part of the Team next year. The structures are excellent and everything regarding the Team is well organised,? said Van Staden.

?I want to give my best every time I get on the bike and ride for the team. If we all give everything we have, the results will come.?

Wesemann, who spend some time racing in <?: PREFIX = ST1 />BelgiumON> in the past year, also seems eager for the action to start.

?I?m not totally sure what to expect, but I reckon great things lies ahead. It?s a great team?its going to be a cracker of a year I think,? said Wesemann.

In the coming days the third new edition to the Team will be announced.

Team CPI?s team-manager, Chris Willemse snr., believes that exciting times lies ahead for the Team. He will in the coming weeks make known the main focuses of the Team in 2009. The plans are big and the all the lads are eager to deliver.

Robert Quinn, a former member of Club 100, is the third new member of Team Charles Potgieter Investments.

Quinn, who won two events ? West Coast Express and Bonnievale ? in the Summer league, finished third overall in the league.

?Team CPI gave me the opportunity to become more of a professional rider. And they made me a very good offer. The chance to ride in international races will give me some invaluable experience,? said Quinn.

The other new members are Michael van Staden and Martin Wesemann.

The full team roster is Quinn, Van Staden, Wesemann, Garth Thomas, Abdelbasset Hannachi and Chris Willemse jnr.

?It?s a good mix of guys we have in the team. I know some of them already which makes it easier to be part of the team. It would have been more difficult if I didn?t know anyone. All of the guys in the team are really talented. If we can work as a unit?we can be great. We only need to remember to work together and not against each other.?

Thanks Chrispy. Seems like you work for the press. Always have the news 1st. This is going to be a cracker of a team. Just hope that they will ride more races up country.

They have everything that a team should have. Workers , sprinters , winners, climbers and track riders. This is good news for WP cycling.

Chrispy do you no in which races or tours they are going to compete in 2009?

I asked oom Chris earlier this week but he said that he cant announced it yet .

GOOD LUCK and WELL DONE
