How do you tell if its steel? I have an ancient Gios, blue with chromed lugs and a pinned head tube badge. Not sure if its steel, but it sure is heavy. I'm looking for a 7 speed cluster for it (See 7 speed cluster thread).

If it still has it's original paint job then there should be a sticker on the seat tube saying if it is Reynolds or Coumbus tubing. If it is ancient enough then it will say "chromoly"

A friend of mine did a triathlon recently, on a steel bike. On the road leg they did two loops, going over rough cobble stones on a downhill going into town. she said she loved the seeing and hearing the carbonfibre guys bein beat on their bikes when she flew past them on her steel bike. So sweet.
