Bela Bela had almost 900 finishers' date=' at least two pro teams, so no prob there.

I suggest if you wanna improve your seeding, seriously consider doing the Carousel race on 10 Aug.

Lekker fast and relatively flat, so easy race for improving seeding/getting a nice seeding - try it, you will thank me later

Excuse me butting in from JHB North but the above is good advice. Nice flat race similar profile to Bela Bela with a small bump at the turn around. The big advantage for seeding is that the pro's do a longer 150km race so seeding times are calculated relative to the next fastest which is usually 30-39.

All helps when you are looking for that extra 0.5% on the seeding index smiley2.gif.

Hey all you southern suburbs hooglians (That includes the honorarans too, Nance, Ox et al.)

Have to share this news. So by now y'all know ol' faithful has expired and been forced into ill health retirement.

I got this Petini frame from GOv2.0 and transferred all the componenets over on Sunday. Took her out for her maiden voyage yesterday. A 20 k time trial. The occasion started out looking not so cool. I lost my balance going out my gate and face planted. (Nice start.) So after sheepishly picking myslef up and examining the new ride in minute detail, I get up and start the ride.

I managed to do my route in 34 min 01 second. Eish, that bike can handle like a dream. Corners like she's on rails and inspires such confidence.

I am really stoked with my "new" toy. Thansk GO, she's a dream to ride.

Can't wait for the weekend to go and show her off. Reynolds 653 tubing.

Took some pics of her last night bu they came out cr@ppy. Will redo pics and post them tomorrow.

Hey!! who you calling a hooglian? smiley36.gif

Very cool slave... one of these days we aren't gonna recognise you.  It was odd enough seeing you riding with cleats and I have to be honest I was finding it rather amusing on Saturday how much lead time you give yourself for clipping out smiley2.gif

Congrats man... can't wait to see you on your new steed.

Good one Greyowlversiontwopointzero smiley20.gif

Sorry Nance, you're only part hooglian or is that part time hooglian, since you hailed from here originally and still come back to your roots to ride wiff us suvveners sometimes.

Trubie. Thanks dude, if yesterday was anything to go by, she's nice to ride so I'm going to enjoy my cycling even more.

Kid sent me an e-mail asking about taking a later rideon the weekend and maybe doing the cheese loop.

Any takers for this Sunday. Leave a bit later to escape the cold and have a nice long ride. I want to go and do the brag thing on Saturday.

Have to pit my new steed against the other dudes and see how we shape racing up the steps against the bunch. So i might take a long loop Saturday with the big dawgs and then again Sunday with my buds.

Who's in other than Kid?

Ha ha, yes, clipping out is a confidence thing. I still have to get used to it. I must have looked more like a rooki cycist than my experience would suggest.

GO also gave me a pair of look pedals. They ROCK. Clipping in and out is much easier than the wellgo's I had.

It only takes one fall to make me nervous and I have had four in the last ten days / two weeks. I got to fall off the new bike before I even had it out for a proper ride. First timeout the gate and I face-plant right outside the gate. Lame I tell you, lame. No word of lie.

Well, that depends, do all my plants that I had as a teenage racing bike rider, count towards the mystical number 7?

Why 7?

If they do, I was one years ago. If not, I'll never be a real cyclist.smiley6.gif

Dude, I love that bike. She is AMA-zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzing.

Maybe we need to start an "Italian ride" thread. You only qualify if you ride Italian stallions. Is the Petini Italian or does it just sound like it.

Those wops know a thing or two about designing stuff that handles well. Cars, bikes, (wonder if the girls handle well. Hmmmm.)

Um...I hate to burst your bubble dude, but I seem to think Petini had its roots with Linden Cycles. I know the Reynolds tubing is British...so like most Italian bikes these days it could have a multi cultural origin!

As for the mystical number '7'...it was pre ordained by the Cycling "powers that be" to match that of the divine number "7"

Legend has it that the Cycling Deity "Bottechia" passed a decree that no man should ever be greater than seven victories in any given Tour or classic...and that all cyclists should face a sevenfold tumble test before he has passed into cycling manhood.

Prophecies do exist that should Armstrong win an eigth Tour De France, he would then in fact be the incarnate Bottechia, and all cycling life as we know it would subsequently change.

Or it could just be that the number 7 was just someones lame attempt at a joke...

I'll go with the lame thing. It sounds more credible.

Remember Bruce. He won Comrades nine times. I think Lance has a better chance of falling pregnant than winning the tour again, but that's just my opinion. It is far tougher than any comrades marthon and to be honest, I think he has too much younger and possibly stronger competition.

All conjecture and supposistion on my part since I don't know much about cycling, never mind.  Just my 10 Zim Dollars worth of cr@p for today. Who knows, Lance might win TDF again, I might become the pope. (You NEVER know.)smiley36.gif

So listen dudes and dudesses, Kid wants to take a late ride Sunday. Say do the cheese factory loop or the circus loop.

I entered the fountains so I need miles and not much time to do them.

Say we leave around 8 or 9 and do a long loop. Meet at Rietvlei.

Ideas, comments. Come on guys, I know it's only Tuesday but like let's do some stuff. I have a new steed and all I want to do is jump that saddle.
