I know you Southerners discussed racing the Carousel to get good seedings. So who rode yesterday and were you happy with the times?

Was my first seeding for the 94.7 - as I had not done this race previously I thought the potholes where just part of the race.

I thoroughly enjoyed the race and happy with the results.

Ian , I rode in A, for the 1st time,  with yr son - Gareth?, greeted him, but not sure he recognized me. Got dropped on the climb, chased my ass of with a smallish group of about 12 guys. We managed a 2:51, with which i am very happy ito the seeding advantage.

See you and jnr both rode about 2:43 - super quick!

enjoyed the race yes.

Kid, done that e-mail thing.

Speed is all relative. Relative to you, maybe I am fast. Relative to Garry, I am definitely fast (Only because he is very infit round about now.

Relative to Trubie, I am slow and to IanJ, super slow.

So where is the wise old bird?

Sent me an SMS on Friday night but my phone battery was a bit smiley11.gif. Sent me another on Saturday or Sunday to say he lacked the enthusiasm and motivation to ride.

Haven't seen or herad from the birdman since. It's OK dude, you can come home, all is forgiven and forgotten.

It's been so long since we took a ride together. Let's organise one.

Well I am a Northerner but rode with Trubie. Had a great race. Got into a group up the hill to the turn point which ended up being the second group of A (by my calculations). Chased whoever was infront of us and eventually got a bit mixed up and slowed down by a group of ladies. This allowed Trubie's Twelve to catch up. Ended up 3 seconds ahead of Trubie. I was happy with my race. How did you find it?

Yes I know not everyone is from the South but the group is so that's why I said it smiley2.gif.

Our race was good thanks, lot's of potholes but managed to avoid most. A break got away after about 40km so we were chasing hard, that is why the VB bunch had the fastest times (apart from the tandems). I was worried about sticking with the bunch up the hill where I got dropped last year but managed ok this year. Then going around the turn around I got pushed out onto the sand and it took some time to get going again. I had to work my ass off to get back to the bunch but luckily I had a team mate so between us we made it.

Just before the finish we caught and tried to pass the 70km A bunch who decided it would be fun to join us so they sort of messed up our sprint but I was right there in the sprint at the end and quite happy with my time.

Looking forward to Lost City, one of my favourite races.

Glad you had a good race!

I, on the other hand, don't like the lost city race. Had a 55kph crash there in 2005 in which I snapped a cleat and got a good bit of my arm between my elbow and wrist stitched up! Even though it was in A bunch and I got to the med tent in reasonable time they had run out of stitches. Had to get back JHB to Morningside Clinic to get stitched up. So I have stayed away from that one.

Trubie , it`s a mix between the Bela Beal and the Carousel, really isn`t taht hard. OUr time last year in the A bunch was 2h35 give or take a second. Unforetunatly  i will not be racing in the bunch again although I`m seeded in the A-bunch. Still recovering from my Brongithis, and pulled a bck muscle taht kept me off the biek for a week. Sh#t timing i would say.

You should know by now that the only thing to do if you fall off your bicycle is to get back up on! Same with these races.... smiley2.gif Beat the demon keeping you away. Go, enter the race and show it who is boss!

See you there?

So I got my TDS number by SMS last night. The route has been changed and reduced by ten k's. Someting about trying to make the route safer due to road works.

Not fair. I paid for 96, I want 96. Maybe I need to chat to the organisers and tell them to reduce the entry fee since they reduced the race distance.

I am very stoked after my ride yesterday afternoon. Did a 20 k TT. My best time so far. 33 min 47 sec. Damn, it was a really good ride.

as I've said to you - maybe the rest is not so bad afterall. This is enough proof I would say?

Good luck on Sunday, pitty they reduced the distance though, but or seeding purposes the race needs to be 80 +, so its still ok
