GOv2, Saturday the imports(Nancy, Joe Low, Slave, myself)) started from Rietvallei albeit a bit late. We went past Xumbugs, but everybody had left by that time. Went out on the long loop and did not even stop at the circus. I guess that Trubie and Indigo Kid were either at Xumbugs, or slept late?

Nancy did a blue ride, so she dictated the pace for us. The way Nancy just motored along at a very steady speed was very deceptive.... One small lapse and she will be up the road and some catching up had to be done.

I showed Slave what the meaning of a true recovery ride is (My HR avg'd @ 117), and I think he enjoyed it, although he claimed that it was boring. Think Slave mentioned something about taking the day off on Sunday...

Os man! Pity I missed you guys yesterday...spoke to Slave on the phone 2minutes ago and he just told me about your ride! And yes, I can confirm that he did take the day off today

Trubie, Indigo and myself were waiting for you guys at Xumbugs, as I had been told you were leaving Rietvlei at ^-55 and meeting at the junction at 7am...next time we'll sort it out!

Kieran...look forward to meeting you bud, just arrange with Slave for the following weekend and we'll induct you into the mental pedalling crew!!

Hey all. Special welcome to Kieran.

Huge pity we missed you, the kid and Trubie on Saturday GO(virgin 2 pint oh) Our ride was really cool. It was (and Nance, Ox, I say this with big respect) very boring compared to my usual ride antics. Chasing down the person or persons ahead, riding like a man posssessed et al. It was a very sedate ride for all intents and purposes. So boring by the stuff I usually push myself to, but one of the most enjoyable rides I have had in months.

Fool yourselves not, a "blue ride" is a workover. I got home feeling great and energised which was a huge turnaround for the feeling of demotivation and frustration over the past two weeks. I did not expect any pain afterwards but my legs did hurt on Saturday and I even took my customary nap except this time ot was for two hours instead of the usual one.  (Damn it sucks being a doddery old fart.) So, even though it was a sedate pace, it still worked the legs good and proper. Respect Nance. You paced us well. I was even gobsmacked that you managed to pass me on one of those Bosco speed bumpsand I had to work hard to play catch-up.

You all have to admit that with the exception of one momentary lapse of reason,I behaved well and pretty much stayed with the pace.

Yesterday I decided I have ignored many home projects for far too long so I cleaned my garage. Amazing what you can find in there when you move some junk around. I even managed to find my car. (Bwaaaahahahahahah).

Cmmuted to work again this AM and it was a great ride. I feel more relaxed and energised today. So, it turns out that rest is sometimes the best training anyone can do.

Kieran, we need to meet you sometime soon so we can induct you into out ASGR "team". Don't worry too much, The birdbrain is the only crazy one around. (NO, WAIT, what am I saying? The Kid is pretty mental too. As for yours truly, there is just no helping some of us. Way beyond it mate, way past the best by date.)

We do try to have some really good fun on our rides. Try not to ride the area around the steps alone. There have been some bike jackings going on although I haven't heard of one for a while now. Still, best to be safe rather than sorry.

Look forward to meeting you.

As for my fellow ASGR compatriots...thanks for waiting when I had the double blow out just past the Blockhouse! smiley35.gifsmiley21.gifsmiley3.gif

I'm sure you missed my pacing on the last 25km into the wind?

Everyman for himself I suppose?

Anyway...hope Slave is ok, and hope to see him on the road again next weekend??

Gee Owlman, sorry about that dude. Wasnt aware of you not being there till we got to the Klipriver intersection. Then Saul and myself wondered what had happened to you? Our bad, I would certainly not have left you to your own devices. I was rather tired by that stage too, so maybe a break would have done more good than bad. Next time shout louder!

I do feel pretty crap now - not a nice way to start the weeksmiley9.gifsmiley9.gifsmiley9.gif

Kieran, Andy is our team ASGR specialist when it comes to SBR, just in case you were wondering.

Andy, Predictor sounds like he is a hrd core dude like you, doing multiple laps of thereserve. smiley8.gif

Let's at least wait until the fish is hooked before scaring it off with wild tales of high speed SBR rides and multiple laps. smiley16.gif

Nance scares me dude. We did a blue ride on Saturday and she passed my going up oneof those Bosco hills.

I had to red zone it just to catch up with her. Mind you, I scare myslef too some days. Just after we started off I chased a truck for a bit along Swartkoppies. I am not quite sure yet what I intend to do with one if I ever catch it.

That was another pain filled red zone moment. smiley29.gif

Then we need to do more reserve rides. No trucks there for you to chase. red zone to catch up to Nance riding in the blue zone? How far behind were you? Andyr2492009-10-19 05:22:44

Not far at all. Being the fat lug that I am, I tend to gather some momentum going downhill. At the bottom Nance passed me and I had to work hard to play catch up.  Not quite sure I red zoned it at that time though. I def did going up the steps. Chased another truck. popped at about 38. smiley29.gifsmiley18.gif

Then I remembered that I was supposed to be behaving myself. Oxman  had long disappeared into the distance leaving Joe Slow, Nance and myself to work our way up the steps.

Andy dude. The whole of SBR is a red zone. Those hills are mean and nasty.

smiley36.gif apparently consistency is key? smiley2.gif

I think when I passed you I might have moved up into my green or orange zone slave... I allowed some time in those zones too smiley2.gif

It was an enjoyable pace for me.. thanks to one and all for humouring me and riding in my HR zones. oh and more thanks for not laughing at my masking tape with marked out zones on my handlebar smiley36.gif smiley9.gif

Slave seems to consistently be in the red zone chasing trucks. Info posted on handle bars is not uncommon Nance.

Nonsense Slave - SBR is cool! Not all in the red zone. The hills are nice!
