Trubie' date=' I heard you did very well? what was your time if I may ask

Our friend Kid made a mistake by posting such false info on here, now I have to confess that it was only 2:35.Nice to have friends like that[img']https://assets.bikehub.co.za/legacy_images/smilies/smiley19.gif[/img]

Am I wrong is saying you then have the best time thus far? smiley32.gif

Well done with that buddy.

Ta Pred, but its only because you havent seen the Owl's time.......

but with a 2:42 in '09, I suppose the 2:35 is a big enough improvement!!

My time for fastone is 3:07. My target was 3hr, so need a lot of training still.

Woke up nice and early yeasterday and went to Nasrec. It was raining and I forgot my Cell at home so I decided to chicken out and go home. As I arived home I saw traces of blue sky, picked up my phone and drove back to Nasrec. After a rush I started two groups behind my seeded group in group K(At the back of K). Was seeded in I. The first 15 kms was all about chasing the front groups(The K group was all about social). I eventually cought a group with a reasonable pace at Xumbugs. Stayed with them for a good 50km but then the guys did not want to work at the front anymore. We ended up with a small group of three just before Vereeniging going to the end. I cramped up after the bridge over the Vaal and the left me behind to finish the last few kilo's on my own. I think I burnt myself out chasing the Sub 3hr.I finished 15th in group K. I'm sure I would have had a beter time if I started I group I. I think the 1st place in group I time was 2h48. The rain was welcome to cool me down. I think al the chasing and pacing took it's tole on me, I did not even finish my two drinks as I concentrated too much on my end time.

Guess the Sub 3 will be next year.

Hey guys...

Well, that was a race! A proper hard, test your ability race! I have tons of respect for everyone that rode.

I woke up at 1am yesterday morning listening to the rain, and I knew then it was going to be a very wet race!

I dunno about you guys, but at our start of 5-55am it was still dark, and the rain never stopped once during the entire ride. I spoke to Kieran, and he said there was on off rain during his race, but for us it just never stopped.

I have to admit, I'm a big fan of riding in the rain (Must be coz I was born in the rain, and raced abroad in the rain!) and was not put off with the idea of being soaked through for 103km!!

The one 'puddle' on the drag up to Midvaal was deep enough to see my BB underwater! And I finished looking like I'd done a Spring classic!

Trubie, thats a well decent time you did dude, improving that much in one year and under those circumstances is respect worthy bud.

Kieran...nice going dude, I will be honest, I did doubt you being able to crack the 3hour mark...but you showed me! Well done, and no there will be no more doubting me when I take you for those interval sessions!!!

Predictor! Nice dude, I knew you'd enjoy the hard conditions...right up your alley!

Indigo, Hummy and Andy...Guys? Its just a little rain!

GO that was very decent time there!

Just remember that Kind and Hummy do not have the benefit of being born in the rain. The only way for them to remedy that will be to get MTBs and do some riding in the dirt and mud... But alas, they are just as scared of mud as they are of rain ... smiley3.gif

Thanks bud! You should have seen how much grit and grime came outta my shoes!! It looked like I'd done an MTB race!

The most important rules of riding in the rain are...

1: Only do it if your confident

2. Stay of the white lines

3. Brake and select gears before the corner

4. Never overlap wheels...

And that should keep you out of trouble! But most importantly, if your not happy to ride in the rain, then dont. Go with your gut...

Mr Grey "the machine" OWL ver 2.0 is being his usual humble self.

Listen here, post your freaken time. Gloat a little, you deserve it.

Well Done bud!!!!!!

Now you know why I didn't ride, I already had a problem with rule #1

Posted

Just realized that I spent 76% of my riding time in Zones 4 and 5 with avr at 89% smiley11.gif

I however felt really good and recon it must have something to do with Altitude??

Spent quite some time at coast doing lots of riding

Hey GO well done on both the race and Kieran.

Intervals really works

Thanks GO - I suppose I am most thankful about finshing the race unscathed.

Can honestly say I thought long and hard about whether or not I should/n't ride, and after deciding , I dont think I have ever been that scared and cautious in a race before. After every corner it was a mission to catch the bunch again, and it got to me 55 mins into the race. I see a max speed of 70, but have got no idea where it was, glad I didnt see it while riding cause then I would have crapped myself.

Must add that the A bunch behaved very well and everyone rode as safe as possible, which obviously helped with my own confidence

GO you definitely worked your magic on Kieran!!!!

My issue was definetly confidence as i fell not so long ago in a puddle of water now to go and constantly ride in a puddle. Lets just say i would have had to wash my own cycling shorts at the end of the race!! smiley34.gif

Maybe if i hadn't fallen would have been brave even to do it. At this stage regret not doing it but when Triathlon champs comes and I make the provincial team (Hopefully) I'm sure i would now be glad I was able to ride another day!

Thanks coach Grey Owl smiley2.gif for believing in me smiley2.gif ha ha ha ha ha smiley36.gif I have a feeling that these intervals are going to hurt more in future! smiley18.gif

Only when it hurts it is seen as an interval.

With that said I just finished a 5km interval running session, EISH!

Looooong way to go to get to the 42km benchmark.

HB, never regret your choises ol man. You made it and at the time you could justify it and then surely it was the correct choise.

I was crapping myself so much in the bunch that I ended up riding most of my race in the front 6.

GO, you know how I feel about the bunch.

Remember that you only risk it all on your A race anyway.

Now with all of this said I am going to sit in a corner and sulk a little after todays comeback run.
