So you going to stick on Trubie's wheel up the first climb. Trubie is in turn going to stick on my wheel. smiley2.gif

The first hill might seem daunting, but try the uphil and undulation onto Robert Broome before the downhill past the hospital... THAT is where the trouble will be!

Guess there will be a few hundred wheels between your bike and mine!

That bit isn't too bad. It is the start that will be worse. It was worse for me last year! Everyone just starts too fast and then blows. You have to then work hard to close the gaps to stay with a decent group up the hill.

Not necessarily. Keep it down to one!

Watch out for the second climb up Robert Broome. guys will go faster up there and it is it could be a better bunch splitter than the initial climb up Hill Snax

I think I'm going to tag along for a joy ride and hold something in reserve for a long ride the next day smiley1.gif. I've made a subconscious decision to only start training hard again at the beginning of Feb!

EDIT: My next cycling weekend (13/14 Feb) I'm doing a race at Babbas (MTB race then if not there)

Kid Mr Owl has done a triple SBR smiley1.gif and then never quite made it home smiley17.gif

Then I rest my case.

Don't wont to burst your bubble but you still many many kilometers to go before you reach OWL status.

Maybe so Kid, but even the owl was a fledgeling at some stage.

And look how he can fly now.

Seems like Kieran may have some talent that can be honed under the tutilage of the Owl.

You guys hey! Thanks for the props hey! I did manage 3loops of SBR...even rode there from Meyerton (17km) and managed to get back to Meyerton...but the last 2km were too much and I had to call Dad to fetch me!!!!

As for Kieran...you know what, he's there for any training I suggest! Its kinda scary...and he listens to everything I suggest!

This morning, we blasted out and back with our avg just shy of 40kph for our TT interval session...so he's coming right quickly! (He even launched an attack just as we were finishing our second 10km effort! Lil bugger!)

Was chatting to Predictor the on Tuesday and we both agreed the Kieran has some potential. I also believe Hummy does too. He has a nice relaxed riding style, and with some definate focus he could go far in cycling. Whens your next Tri race Hummy?

Hey Owl. Thanks for the confidence boost, very appropriate for the day I've had today.

Reason for my nice relaxed riding style is that its never hard, started having a look at my HR while i train, my training intensity is too low! I think!

Next tri, which I'm already K@king in my pants for, is on the 7th of Feb. CGT Champs and i actually seem to have a very good chance of making it. Only issue now is that i have to do the entire thing by myself, which I'm not used to, normally latch onto some cyclists and runners which boosts my time.

Any tips for me Owl? Os?

Humming Bird it is all about the transitions....! not really. but practice changing over as you can loose time in transition area very quickly!

get the legs used to changing disciplines, go and do a mini duathlon (not an event) aka brick session.. Run 2km (warm-up), Cycle 5km(race pace)and run another 1km afterwards (as best as you can). Practice your transition inbetween, even get Indigo Kid to have a look at you doing this and comment on changing over.

Just remember, there is a reason why the swim is first, and the run is last. Unfortunately they are in order of ascending difficulty, so do not burn yourself on the bike or the swim. It is too fast and short to recover from over cooking it!

Good luck! Go hard, but stay sensible!

Spot on OX. In the swim you can and will and should swim over through past into all other swimmers. Actually a bit of a boxing match mixed with wrestling called open water swimming.  Bike is draft ilegal and then the run will be whatever it is. No drafting issues here.

This also means that if it is draft ilegal then you may use a TT bike smiley17.gif

So just find out like OX said for he race not too sure myself.

Looking at the link I've posted it seems to be draft legal:

Race 2 - 10:00 am Sprint Triathlon: 750m Swim/20km Cycle/5km Run (draft legal & min age 16)

* The following Junior selection and CGT championship events take place on Event 2 ? the 7 February only):

(These races closed to individual athletes of these particular age groups and are draft legal)

Event 2 Race 4B Age 16-17 750m/20km/5km start 10:45 (closed selection race)

Just make sure you are entered in the correct race!

Hmmm...You know Hummy, a Tri is well beyond my area of expertise. So you are very fortunate to have the wisdom of the Os and Predictor here. Even for me as a non Tri guy, it makes sense in what they are saying.

If you wanna improve on your bike sessions let me know and we can hook up for some fast, high intensity bike rides. I can show you how we were trained for a TT.
