Hahaha, well Cat-i has forgiven me. smiley4.gif

When my alarm went off to get ready for the ride my legs just felt like they were flat. I simply knew that I would probably get to the tar road and have to turn back. I went for a short easy ride to visit my grandfather late in the afternoon as he stays 1km from us and the legs were protesting loudly! I suppose it was to be expected as the last ride of that intensity was the 94.7!

So it is Wednesday now and time to plan weekend's riding. What have you all got planned?

Well you coming south for a ride on Saturday, then on Sunday you'll go race around the east rand.

Today marks four weeks since my crash which happened at 17h00 on Wed 7 Jan 2010.

This week has marked the most significant recovery period. There is still discomfort but at least the ribs don't "click" when I breath deeply. I even surviced another sneeze last night without having to change my underwear.

I have been without any pain meds for 4 days now (only took them once a day last week.).

All in al, I am feeling much better now and starting to have ideas of riding the bike. This is where I will have to force myself to take it easy for the next two to four weeks.

Nance. Looking forward to taking a nice easy(ish) ride with you sometime soon.

Enter Slave: Takes a bow.

Thanks Trubes. It has zip to do with me and everything to do with the healing power of our Maker. I remain eternally grateful that I got off as lightly as I did. It could have been so much worse.

So, the plan is, to hit the IDT tonight for a little session. Just to begin turning the legs and taming the fear of the bike.

Actually, the truth is I am not scared of the bike. More like I am terrified of falling but I would have to sink to previously unachieved levels of stooooooopidity to fall of an IDT.

Anyone ever managed that one? (not rollers, Frame built lock in back wheel type IDT)

That is great Slave! Hope you continue to recover as fast as you have!

Trubie, that is a good race! Are you doing the 40km or the 20km? If the 40km then watch out for the mud on the second lap. The twisting bit through the forest part is nice.

Are you going for the ride around the East Rand Kid? Take a few coins to put in the machines afterwards - you may be able to buy a Dogma, who knows?

I will have to decline your invitation for Saturday as it conflicts with my warmup ride for Sunday's little east rand ride.

Slave, just because nobody has come off a IDT doesn't mean you can't smiley36.gif

Take it easy, in 4 weeks time you'll be ready to go.

BYW Nancy is hard core and it's focusing on stage races for the moment.

Andy. I won't be riding that far east on Sunday.

Will go out for a short ride and then small Bird has a very important Triathlon.

Will ride on the far east on the 21st.

Tell small bird good luck for his important triathlon event.smiley32.gif

I concur!

Where is this very important triathlon?

Predictor, are you also doing this very important triathlon?

It's at the Germiston lake.

Hopefully this time everything will go well.

The last triathlon in Dec 09 a plane shot the runway and a cyclists (not part of the triathlon) was knocked and the organizes canceled the cycling leg of the triathlon.

Thanks for the well wishes, will pass them on to small Bird who's knees are already shaking.

As Kid says its @ Germiston Lake, Thanks guys for all the well wishes will let you know how it goes. (Either making the team or falling over on the side of the road)

Please may no more planes crash through the fences, no more cyclists get killed by reckless trucks and my it please be cooler weather.

A cyclist got hit by a plane? Ok...thats really arb!

Hummy...just go give it the beans dude. Stop stressing about it and just enjoy it. In the words of Aerosmith "Get over it"...

Slave, I'm gonna give you a public blasting here dude. Getting on that bike so soon with those ribs is foolish bud. I know your itching to ride, but its still too soon. My 2c worth.

If any of you are interested, the Colnago shop is almost ready! They were doing the last of my painting/work today!
