Or maybe I just know my limitations. :)

I cycle for fun. If I want to get all muddy and dirty, I work in the garden. Garden impliments are a lot cheaper than expensive MTBs that rattle your eyeballs so much you can't see jack at anything over 15 km per hour.

But then again, "you may be right, I may be crazy...." in the words of Billy Joel.

Have a great arvie and evening dudes (and the royal family of they are still around.) Busy, busy.

Well I went and tested some of my limitations yesterday eve at the Dome crit.

Mapstieks it was sore.....

49 mins over a not so flat course, ended with 400+ m of ascend, so work it out, 49 mins, 86% ave HR and power output of 291w, over 29 laps...........

you think you in any sort of shape and you go there - to be reminded the shape you in is ROUND! :(

I will be back however.

The crit is great training! Glad you got around to go there. It does keep you honest & humble though...

29 laps in 49 minutes are not bad at all!

Awesome ride / commute this morning.

After a rest day yesterday because I'm such a fair weather rider, I felt great this morning. Even did a couple of hill accelerations en route. Managed to do a 1hr 09 commute. Best time so far. Probably take me three days to get home, but that's not all that important right now.

Andy, I have given some thought to my weekends riding and I think I am going to rather just do a one lap short loop at an easy pace on Sunday.

Nevermind those two 'neutral' laps at the start... it gets hectic very early during those!

Posted

Slavey I shall join you with that easy pace on Sunday :)

Cool Ha-Ha. Haven't seen you for ages. Short loop nice and easy at 07h00 from the usual place with the usual suspects. Will maybe look for an intermediate group to ride with. Nothing too fast and not too slow either. (Read as: Not with Mona's bunch.)

Slave, that suits me just fine.

Who is riding on the Saturday as well? I am thinking of riding Saturday and Sunday. 0700 short loop on both days.

I'm riding on Saturday... 2x sessions on the IDT  or not

I will be there on Sunday for the short loop for sure. I think I will make Saturday a rest day.

EDIT:

Oxman. I have a great deal of respect for peeps who can actually sit on an indoor trainer and complete a planned session.

I managed to try it a few time, but never got as far as completing the planned hour. Closest I got was 50 minutes. I found it mind numbingly boring and very easy to get off the damn thing. The sweats also didn't help me enjoy the experience. I know, I only thought about the fan a long while afterwards.

I did a number of good intevals in those few times I got on the IDT, but it's far more fun dodging taxis, dogs and basically being out on the road. If I ride 50k's out, that means I have 50 to ride back. After 10 or 20 minutes on an IDT, it is much too tempting and easy to stop, have a drinks break, scratch the posterior.......

Slave, you need a goal man! It is the only thing that gets me to ride my bike in the lounge :)

On the other hand though, next weekend I'm due for a long ride again, and can do it outdoors. So... I am thinking about this one http://www.mapmyride.com/ride/south-africa/johannesburg/217128026392736157

What you guys think about it?
