Nice meeting you this morning Saint.

Would love to know where that name comes from, that grin on yr face does tell me theat yr not a Saint? :)

Went way too hard this morning for my liking. Might just be regretting it tmrw morning though. But you know how it is. If there is a gap it needs to be closed........ 34.5 ave around the loop :( Silly stuff really.

Lotsa activity on Alewynspoort road this morning. There was a bunch riding on their own - looked like a Germ Wheeles one, who had 2/3 riders go down. Didnt look to serious, hope all is ok!

Then a cordonned off area with police tape and vans and plenty onlookers just a bit further down the road, an ambulance coming towards us further down the road. Happy to be unscathed!!

Well Hummy is genetically connected to Kid so I'm sure there would be a few similarities. I had a great ride with Nancy this morning. We did a nice relaxed paced and I think we may have ridden some sections quicker than normal. Nancy did beat her best time up Munroe though. Had a nice breakfast at Doppio afterwards and then I did a bit of an extra bit. After I said goodbye to Nancy I couldn't control the bike and it just went by itself on it's own route. Next thing I find myself at the bottom of Northcliff Hill! Up Northcliff Hill and then suddenly the bike just went by itself up Joseph - 5 times and then up Joseph from the Ethel side! When I got home my Garmin said 100km, 4:41 and 1535m. :D

Looking forward to an easy Nampak tomorrow although I was considering going on the Spruit with Nancy and another rider. But I had already committed myself to the South ride so I will be at Xumbugs a bit before 7am.

Ride safe Trubie and remember not to just flash your bike at a subdued pace on the front. Make people go out the back when you on the front! :P

@Andy

I thiught you said that you couldn't ride for long as you had stuff to do ?

thanks for all the support you crazy bunch of peeps.

I managed to finish safely in the bunch in 2:34, I bike showed 101k's and we ave just under 40k's/h.

Nice race, only 300 odd m of ascend, but fast and furious. Little wind, so was a nice ride and last hard ride before the 94.7. Woohooo, some R&R time coming up.....

Great ride there Trubie. Awesome stuff indeed. :clap:

So going by your hard core training we can expect you to win the VC bunch ride in next weekends little Tour de Egoli. ;)

Hey Andy, it was an awseome ride. It actually all started with quarter pint launching an attack on a tandem that had passed our group some 9 km in on the Allewynspoort road. By then I had done a bit of a bunker and dropped from lead out on the group to about 2/3 the way down the pack. I watched the tandem go past, then a few mintes later Lucas launched his atttack, followed closely by Andy, Kieran and Kid. I sat for a while longer and then thought "Waht the hell?? Life is short enough as it is, let's have some fun too." So from 2/3 down the pack, I got in a bit of an interval and closed up on the Tandem. By this time, the rest of the racing snakes had gone past. I used the tandem wheel for a recovery and watched as the rest slowed down. Last 2 km from the "T" junction and we caught up with Andy and Kieran having long gone past pint and 1/4 pint. :) Just a little bit of a sprint for the stop and we stopped on the bridge to wait for the main group. Meanwhile there was another bunch of riders in Neotel colours that had passed us all and they were stopped on the bridge as well.

The group split to go right and left so it was a fairly small contingent doing the steps. From the back, Andy and I conspired to chase whomever was at the front on the steps and ended up passing everyone. Without that Bontreger wheel in front of me, I doubt I would have made it. I was seeing stars and pink elephants by the time we hit the second step and was completely blown by the third. I know not how I managed to hang onto Andy's wheel, but somehow I did. I suspect he slowed down a bit to help an old fella out. The old fart was huffing like a steam train. :blush:

It was a magical ride. Thanks Andy and everyone else. Kieran, good to see you back on the bike again.

One week before tour de Egoli.
