To think I almost stayed in bed this morning.............

New PB through the reserve, beating old one by 4 mins +

Not sure what I am gonna have to do to get past today's 2:09 -but that is another day's worry.

For now, happiness reigns.

15 weeks, 160 hrs, 4550 k's, 6 kg lighter - can't do much more to be ready for the big A!

Now just praying that the weather plays along.

Good day for PBs then! I managed a few running PBs today as well. Did a flat 21.1km run, and did it in (a I'm sure a still slow time for the great Slave) a time of 1:40. Was gunning for a sub 1:45m so I'm quite happy.

The time for silly little races are over now, so for the next 8 weeks it'll be only training, training, training...

Well done old boy. Very well done indeed. Looks like those hill repeats on butchers is having the desired effect of making you a better climber.

Can only benefit you for the big "A". Now if you can get a decent day weather-wise and you don't suffer the fates of punctures and blowouts, this should be your year for a really good one.

Keep up the good work and keep the ASGR flag flying high. We are proud of you. ;)

Love the new bike. Hope it brings you many hours of safe joyous riding.

Thanks Slave but I doubt the real climbers will think much of this time.

They go around close or under 2 hrs, so still loooooooooooong way to go before I will call myself a capable climber. Naturally with my build I will never be a climber - EVER

Hey all long time no chat, been hectic racing and training on my side, any of you going to be at Argus, if so pop in at the 32Gi stand to say high. Flying out tomorrow morning.

Dude, don't underestimate that time. Your average is pretty close to 30. I think the owl used to fly around there in just under two hours so your time is pretty damn good.

Ok, so the real reason for this post is to say to all the dudes doing the big A this weekend. Enjoy, happy hunting and be safe.

I will be back on the bike this weekend and plan to do some serious rides. Looking forward to doing a bunch ride again. :)

Doing the circus loop tomorrow morning. I can feel the pain already. :o

Much to be happy about today..... Not the best time in the world in relation to the great day we had!!! Not a climber, so not a favourite race either. But improving from a 3:46 last year (3:36 PB) to a sub 3 was the aim. So my 2:57 is in the bag and I can tick it off. :) thanks for the support and well wishes.

Why is it so quiet on here?

Slave , what is this riding 138km on a weekday??????? Were you intoxicated, were you on a bike?

Thanks Andy - that 2:50 is a Champion time bru

Tyred or exhausted from my long ride is why I am quiet. OK, yes, very busy as well.

Necessity is the mother on invention dude. Had a situation where I needed to be in Ptown yesterday and the only mode of transport available was the trusty steed.

So I commuted there and back. :o

Oh and being intoxicated on two wheels is no good at all. I try and stay off the hooch so I can ride, although I do fall off the wagon every now and then. Rather off the wagon than the bike. Seems the landing's a tad softer off the wagon.

Ok, so, yesterday,I came close to selling bike for taxi fare and giving up riding altogether. Wasn't sure which part of me hurt more when I eventually got home after dark. I don't recall taking any viagra that got stuck in my throat, but I had a stiff neck, very sore shoulders especially the left one. The butt hurts, (saddle sore) and strange but true, legs that were cramping yesterday, feel quite good today. :)

Whereas yesterday, especially between 90 and 120 km, I was quite wiling to give up cycling forever, it got easier again after 120 km and I broke a mental barrier by going the distance. Today, although sore,I feel great (actually, that is a lie. I feel like a zombie.)

I am not ready to do my next 138 anytime in the next couple of days, but I can face the prospect and enjoyment that if nothing else, the ride will have done me some good. I will be marginally stronger physically and mentally. (Ok. I am willing to concede that "mental" is a permanent state of mind for me. Just don't make it public. I may end up bing found and taken back to the funny farm.)
