So, like how dark is it at 5:15 in the AM these days?

 

One of the issues I have about early morning rides is that it is difficult enough for motorists to see us during bright sunshine.

 

That time of the AM, the suckers are still half asleep and no way they gonna see you in the twilight of early morning.

 

I also have no lights on my bike having done all my training either in the sfternoon, or mid day on weekends.

Not sure about the suckers, but sometimes i'm also half asleep sucking air!

 

Only joking though. At least most morning's there is a PANDA bakkie or van following the group and even assists if you have bike trouble.

Not sure who ever covers the costs. We think maybe the guys should each give some $$$ for juice.. (a sort of "pay as you go with the flow" - system).

 

Will have to start using lights again myself. Going down Swartkoppies to the loop start is very dark and you could hit a brick or something dead...again!

S2L - Its dark untill about 5:30 at the moment, there are several front and a lot of back lights in the group, also the bakkie following, so not that bad, its only 15-20 mins at most, then its rather light.

 

Plenty suckers though!!

Nuwbie. I get worried 'bout all those suckers in their cars at any time of the day. The just blind and stoopid and scare me sh!tless.

 

I have done the loop many times by myself (yip, stok-siel alleen) but all this stuff 'bout fellow-cyclists getting run over, mugged and all that other stuff that happens to us, is kinda making me re-think stuff.

 

The weather her at the mo is chucking down and windy. Maybe I must just continue my rest until the chest is clear and then start my cycling regimen again.

 

It really is getting me down tho' dark skies, dark mood and totally frustrated because I WANNA RIDE. 10 days off the bike now and I really need a good endorphin fix. (No thanks Fand, I don't want the phamaceutical sub.)

 

Sigh, I guess I'm hooked, bad.

SL2 - you right about that - can be scary s@&t sometimes, but hey, where is it not like that. On the road in yr car, walking in a shopping mall, at home when you are sleeping, etc, etc, etc

 

I suggest you get better first before going for that longed after ride, it is only beginning of Feb and 2009 still has 300+ days left. In long run it will be better. But I must say 10 days is a loooong time.

S2L you complianing about 10 days, I'm off for a total of 7 weeks, 49 days.

 

I've also done the loop many times on my own, never had a problem except that one time when a truck was overtaking another truck and I figured that I would be on the loosing end so off the road I went until they went past but there was plenty time to think & re-think my strategy.

 

I also suggest that you in perfect health before going out riding, especially with the boys. ARE U LISENING ????

Dude, 10 days is way too much inactivity for me. I only have bronchitis, not a broken wrist / hand / arm.

 

'sides, I just wanna go out there and do a few slow rides first and se how I feel before I try to run with the big dogs again. Right now, prudence says stay on the proch with the puppies, but I just wanna sneak off the steps for a bit and wander 'round by myseflf until I feel confident enough to have a good run.

 

Best I stay away from bunches / packs / da boys 'cause when I get on that bike, I just go gagga gagga and anyone in front of me is an danger of being chased. Dude, like a dog can't resist chasing cars, I just can't resist chasing down cyclists in front of me.

 

BTW, I still haven't figured what the dogs do with the cars when they catch 'em.

Besides I can ride I'm just a bit chicken, if you go riding with the boys you'll meet a fellow who rides a Bianchi with only one arm and he's a lot faster than me.

 

Is it you or that monster you ride that can't resist the temptation of overtaking the cyclists in front of you ?

BTW, Liewe exie is the "ex" mrs Slave an'I'm not to sure how this gives my age away. I make no secret that I'm just an old fart. Running with da boys will be more like running after them when I get dropped.

I've been dropped a few times but I go back for more, one day when I get BIG I'll keep up.

Maybe when my wrist is sorted we'll go for a ride before we ride with the big dogs. We can't pee like puppies if we want to ride with the big dogs....

It's been raining here for a while (quite hard too) so the roads are soaked and there is an evil cold wind. (bloody thing must've escaped from the Cape.) So, no riding for me today. The thing about this not riding is that I got a set of STI's from a fellow hubber and I'm just burning to try them out. Oh, well, 'nother couple of days wont make that much diffs, or will it?

 

BTW, you can have your ex wicked witch of the west (or east, or whatevva). Fortunately, I don't have to interact with Liewe Exie any more so I don't.

 

I do remember the TV program though. Liewe Hexie. Was really quite pathetic if I remember. Kinda like the ex mrs Slave.
