Has anyone else ever had a similar problem?

My Garmin has now started switching off in the middle of a ride. From what I am told there seems to be a problem with the internal wiring of the unit which has to be sent in for repairs.

I have not experienced this but it was discussed a while back on motionbase chat forum, reasons ranged from version upgrade to faulty battery connector.

YES!  I have been experiencing exactly that!  <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Got my unit back from Avnic yesterday and wont have time to test it until tomorrow's Double.

I am a bit annoyed, the warranty is only for a year, and although this seems like a factory fault (definitely not my fault) and a recurring fault, they don?t seem to keen on replacing these units or extending the warranty.

I have also been experiencing problems with the speed/cadence sensor.  In the last 2 years I have replaced it 3 times!  It is normally the speed that stops working first. 305 and 705 use the same sensor, so I wonder how the guys are doing with the 705 speed/cadence??

AND THEY KEEP TELLING ME THAT THIS IS NOT A REGULAR OCCURANCE??????

I had a similar problem,

One friday night before a race on saturday, the unit just didn't switch on.

no matter what i did, nothing!

put it on charge,, still nothing!

did the race without it, and I think on sunday when I tried again to turn it on, it worked perfectly.Confused

the "enter" button on the unit is not working properly though..

you have to press almost till it comes out on the other side for it to work!

so I emailed the guys at garmin and they said I should bring it in and they

will have a look and decide if the warrantee covers it.

I had the same problem, 4 units in 18 months. Eventually got them to upgrade me to a 705 for a reasonable price.

It is a well documented problem (google it) there is a connecter between the two halves of the case which after time stops making good contact. I was told that newer units now have a hard wired connecter so shouldn't give the same problem.

Tankman a few of us had the same problems a few months back. We managed to get them sorted out very quickly by Jason Theunissen at Avnic Trading.

I upgraded to the 705 and have not had any problems since.
