First flat wheel in a verrrry long time!!!!!

Ok we have been riding the MTB tandem since 2005 with slime in the tubes. We now have el rapido here with 28c wheels on. This morning we went over a duwweltjie and the wheel was flat almost immediately. I remember them saying that slime will not seal a road tyre due to the higher tyre pressures. It needs to be below 4,5 bar to seal. If I put slime in the tube will it deflate and then seal when it reaches +-4,5bar??????? 4,5 bar is better that FLAT?????? If we are close to home 4,5 bar will get us there. If we are travelling 35km/h 4,5 bar in the tube will be better than flat?????

They said that you inject the slime into the tube and then put a patch on. Does this work???????

Hendrik, I cannot vouch for slime in road bikes. However, I'm quite good at fixing sticky keyboards. I once spilt Coke on my keyboard and the ? key was just as buggered as yours. I took the keyboard apart, separated the plastic membrane from its underlying contact board and simply dunked all plastic parts in a sink full of soapy water and washed it. After carefully drying it by shaking it and leaving it in the sun, I put the whole thing together and voila! No more sticky keys.

I did it once with a Rubic Cube....... pulled off all the stickers and repasted them so it looked as If I solved the puzzle. Nobody could do anything with the cube afterwards and it even kept the boffins busy for days on end!!!!!!!

Ok, yes, bigH, slime does work in road tubes. I have used it in such. I have not tried the needle and syringe method, rather the more messy via the valve method. Note, I said messy, but it does work.
