Ever since my battery went flat on my polar(about 3 weeks ago), i have noticed a significant increase in my ave speeds and feel allot stronger, i know it's weird but i think i was spending to much time looking at the HRM or when i see a heart rate of 170-180 i slow down...either or i feel much stronger now, i may not even put it back onto my bike....

I am even slower with my HRM than without it...but at least manage to go the distance and avoid cramping on long rides when using it. I like having it because it forces me to pace myself else I go balls to the wall and end up dropping off the pace burnt out a few kays later.

If I race without my HRM I find that I push too hard too early, and end up shagged, hanging on at the back at the finish. Granted I finish, but I don't finish strong, and what's the point of racing my arse off for 99k's to **** out at the end.

I use mine all the time - but seldomly worry while on the bike. But it does makes for interesting reading/analysis after the race/ride to see where I should've gone harder.
