Hmm, probably won't be optimal for Epic type riding - not really in line with the demands of the epic.

 

 

 

A better type of workout for the epic would be steady state riding, with short (30sec) bursts above threshold every few minutes. This would simulate the short intense efforts found in MTB when short steep gradients are encountered.
