Some of us been down that road where wife left, chucked us out, whatever, but like at the time it was the worst thing imaginable. That we got over it and went on to bigger and better things, (in some cases smaller and better GF) is just like the furthest thing from his mind right now. We need to organise a strip show and batchelor celebration to get this dude over his pain. We can always make smart, funny comments later when he's like had some time to stop bleeding.
