brussel Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Iwhen I bought it it was 25k (I got it a bit cheaper due to some schmoozing) but I beleive they are now closer to 30k. weight is about 12kg I dont have a super accurate scale. Evidently the frame us a couple of hundred grams lighter than the old one...
splat Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 The Anthem X1 goes for around R26000.00 give or take a bit. Standard with a Gobi saddle and UST 819 rims. Most shops supply it with non UST tyires, but Action Cycling here in Cape Town has it with Crossmark LUSTs. Chuck on some pedals and you are good to go! Would love to have it, but still enjoying my '08 Anthem 1.
Spaceboy Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 One of my mates got the X1 for a great deal >25k....and it is an awesome bike. A little more travel than the previous model....and i think the Maestro suspension design works well. If you got a line on one.... go for it!
Iwan Kemp Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Better allround handling and better control due to slightly slacker HA. Better trail manners, but not loss of outright speed. It's a "better" bike. Not sure by how much but it is lighter than 08 Anthem, so should be quite a bit lighter than an '07. It's a mighty fine bike. Giant has done the seemingly impossible by improving an already great bike. Brave.
CaptainDura Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 I have one. it weighs 11.6 kg with ust tubeless tires, stans, bottle cage and rav-x ergo bar-ends. It really rides well and the suspension is very very very plush. single track is a breaze and uphills in pro-pedal mode is really efficient.
Santa C Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Anthem frame is a great buy!! I herd the difference between 08 and the new 09 is they extend the travel? Never ridden a 07 model, but loved the 08.
