Pixie Posted February 9, 2009 Share Hi guys,Is it a common thing for a crank to "fall off" or is it a fault from the cycling shop side. Do bolts just come out??????
TheLegend Posted February 9, 2009 Share ja, they just do that sometimes when they are in a bad mood! you should specify a bit, what cranks, BB - square tapper...
intern Posted February 9, 2009 Share You're not OB are you? Definitely not that common for a crank to separate, if tightened properly should be no reason for it to go pear..
Mak-daddy Posted February 9, 2009 Share Seems to be a common problem on FSA cranks.

TheLegend Posted February 9, 2009 Share I think quick altitude or temperature changes are a regular cause for cranks to fall off!

Pixie Posted February 9, 2009 Share Sorry guys, the one person had FSA cranks, and the other Cannondale Hellogram (hope spelling is correct), the cannondale cranks were fitted on the Friday, and fell off 39km into the race on the Saturday, the rider ended up with a concussion, 2 vertebrae moved, the dr said she was very, very, lucky she did'nt brake her neck. Bike Mob Posted February 9, 2009 Share Some have lockrings...these work loose - race face esp...some loctite fixes that. but still the main crank bolt should hold. 39 km is negligent workshop PDS ing my 2c

Spinnekop Posted February 9, 2009 Share Back on topic - Cannondale hollowgram are made by FSA' date=' no?[/quote'] No. The carbon SI cranks are made by FSA. "Hollowgram" is Cannondale's. The chainrings are manufactured by FSA if I am not mistaken......
Christie Posted February 9, 2009 Share +1 on FSA carbon cranks They have got a bad rep on the on-line forums I browse. Most common issue is the pedal insert coming loose. Sounds like SA agents provide good back-up, though.Christie2009-02-09 06:42:
