A word of caution to all cyclists riding through Milnerton - do not ride along Otto Du Plessis Milnerton, rather turn into Pienaar Road through Milnerton and exit at the bottom of Boundary road to go into town. There is no hard shoulder along the stretch of road between the Golf Club and Boundary road just where the accident happened. RIP to the deceased and best wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured.

[/quote'] It is a terrible section and this is the second death there. Please use the detour.

Although that section is bad, the SEaster would more than likely have blown the riders further out into the traffic than normal (speculation). Looked like the container truck parked 100m in the shoulder was the culprit (also speculating). R.I.P. Colin and condolences to all your friends and family. Hope the other guys involved pull through.

Always felt very vulnerable as it has no shoulder to ride on. Chilling! R.I.P. and condolences to his family. Very sad indeed.
ShortLegs Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Yes you're right WH, there is shoulder but it's so corrugated it's unridable unless your on an MTB. I think the wind + truck - shoulder = tears
