I hope somebody can shed some light.

I ride a stock standard Raleigh RC6000 with the 10 speed 105.

Would there be any benefit to upgrading the frame and rebuilding everything across?

I have never ridden a road bike other than Raleigh so i would like to know if there would be a noticeble difference between this frame and another say (BMC or carrera) for example?

If there would be a noticible difference then what frame would one recommend bearing in mind i do not want to re-bond my house to pay for it.

Thanks.

Ryan.

You WILL feel a difference.

Stay within your budget and look for bargains.  It is a good time of the year as everyone wants to flog, upgrade or just sell after the Argus.

You will save a LOT of weight going from say the RC6000 to a BMC.

If you go full carbon bike, you will feel a noticeably difference in riding comfort as carbon frames are more forgiving on the bumps and rough tar surface.

Enjoy it and good luck!

well its good to vary your brand of bike and see what is best for you. if you go for something italian or of a compact geometry frame then there will be a noticable difference. every frame from a different manufacturer is different, at the bike shop i work at we get a demo bike to use once a month and so far i've ridden a ridley noah and now an orbea orca, my personal bike is a giant TCR comp and to me they are all different.

Rather use the money to upgrade parts and wheels.I bought my second Raleigh frame (also RC6000) 4 months ago and very happy. I am also looking to upgrade my wheels, currently I have Mavic's on but I thinking of gettint easton's.

My 5cents forth.

Thanks for the advice, will work on getting myself fast in the mean time and keep eyes and ears open for upgrades.
