Is there a reason you want the candys?

Eggbeaters are lighter and shed mud better as its less clutterd.

They provide lots of shoe grip/contact, you dont need the platform of the candy, unles you want to do all mountain type riding and not xc/marathon.

Great pedal. From Mountain Bike Action recently - "the platform makes it a much better pedal for trail riding than the "naked" Eggbeater" ... "the platform is invaluable in ultra-technical, sketchy sections wherre you may want to unclip and rest your foot on top of the pedal. It also comes in handy for starting on a steep climb when you need a few crank rotations before clipping in". So unless you're really worried about weight, the extra few grams are well worth it. And servicing here in SA is brilliant.

I've got the Candy SL's on the 'Goose and they work great. I think the Candy is only something like 14g* heavier than the Eggbeaters, so weight isn't really an issue.

* Need someone to confirm, I suck at remembering weight stuff.

Very nice. ?great in the mud and easy to clip into when setting off.

Just remember to keep them very well serviced otherwise the bearings turn into a small heap of rust...... (you can get a rebuild kit though)

Well the platform is plasticky so im doubtfull if it will last very long seeing as you can hit your pedals against stuff allot in mtb

They are super strong pedals. I've had my set for 4-5 years now. They are still going strong and I ride the hell out of them. Jumps, bashing rocks on trails, you name it. Replaced the spindles, bearings and bushes twice, cleats twice. You can't go wring with them. they have great action and always work well. Crank Bros epitomises brilliant industrial design when it comes to cycling products, and their customer service is REALLY excellent.

Can I take the plateform off If I take the candy??

While the Eggbeater and Candy pedals have similar parts, the Candy cannot be converted to an Eggbeater by removing the body.
