Hi there,

I am looking at buying a pair of the ImpactX Photochromic Sun glasses, doing mostly Mountain biking. Apparently you get them in a clear version that would tint darker or a half dark that would tint even darker. My eyes are quite sensitive to sunlight, but not sure what the effect would be if you do mountain biking and going into shade areas if I go for the second option? The ones I am looking at is the Rudy Project Rydon Impactx Photochromic Grey. I also see you get this one with Polarized lenses? Also, does anyone know how quickly the transition is? Any info would be much appreciated!

Foxx, i've only ever tried these lense out during the crit and i must say if i had the money i'd get them. my eyes are incredibly sensitive - blue eyes AND i've had cornea transplants in both - and i personally loved them

I went to our local optom and what he is going to do for me is put in my prescription lenses into oakley's.  Also going to make them transitions. Can't wait to get them.  I know you can do it for Rudy Projects, but they are very expensive. You looking at about R5000 for that.

mampara, the rudy transition lenses go almost completely clear for riding in the dark... at this stage i have to swap lenses but it i could afford to get hte transition lenses i'd never need to swap them - that is how good they are

There is no other glasses i will ride in unless i have to the rudy projects are way superior in all situations to even oakleys (yes i did just say that)

the transition lenses go completely clear on the rudy's and they do not take longer than a few seconds to go dark either

secondly the rudy lenses do not break under impact where as oakleys do

and thirdly rudy's fit any type of face thanks to the adjustable nose piece and arms

Agree, I use Rudy Photochromatic Clears (also with prescription inserts) and they are great - completely clear in the dark, and whilst not very dark in bright sunlight I find them quite fine, no problems with glare or brightness in road cycling circumstances, they are that good, and I'm sensitive to glare and bright sunlight.

One can justify the cost by understanding that you effectively have two pairs of riding glasses in one.
