What's so great about crossmarks?

I can reccommend WTB... On the web' date=' there's a couple of threads warning against using the normal ones tubeless, but I've ridden normal ones without problems and know of a few others who has...

Wolverine 2.2 has a great pattern, and rolls fast with big volume. Looks like an aggressive tyre but it's a surprisingly fast tyre.

Nanoraptor 2.1 is another fast tyre with good grip.

Vulpine is my fav and is a semi slick of around 480 to 510g, nice volume and fast rolling.

The Prowler MX 2.1 is also a great all round tire!

All of them have very nice rubber compounds and were between 480g and 600g

They are much cheaper than most other tyres too... going for around R300 when I last looked...

I like them, the rubber is not as hard as maxxis tyres (although the new monorail is softer) but they are great race tires!

Thanks Brighter L, Is there a specific bead/compound I should try? I have had a look at the tyres in shops But never seen a UST version, Which should I go for?

I currently ride a crossmark folding in front and LUST at the back, Im so sure of this combo that It starts feeling like theres nothing else I can trust but Im open to new things!Wink

Im not going to spend the bucks on the Speedking- UST ones and even the MAXXIS prices are hard to swallow these days.

My car needs new tyres soon and they are R1600 a pop!!  (noting special just a Focus)

The crossmarks are a bit heavy. But like most people have said they are almost indestructable. I have ridden the maxis brand now for the last 4 years. And i dont even take my tube or pump with on rides. Not even on the epic. This is def by far the most realiable tyre on the market.  If you are a pro then you can go worry about 115g?>

Small Block is in same league as Crossmark. I thik it corners better but rolls a bit slower on the fast stuff. Its a bit softer so bends a bit better over the rocks and boom wortels so has much more feel and control. Its got the same puncture resistance as the Crossmark.

I just put a pair of these Wolverines on as Tubeless on my bike...grips beautifully, lots of volume and look great....Hope they last as they are quite light and I hope the sidewalls survive. At the price of R300 for the pair from The Crow vs R1200 for a set of UST, I am willing to give it a go!

I had a pair of Wolverines before I went tubeless..... haven't seen them in the UST version....

Currently I have no reason to change from my Kenda Karma front and Crossmarx back combination....

I needed new tires on my prado last year, but couldnt afford R2-3k per tire at that stage. Got hold of a guy that got me dunlop grand treks with 70% thread left for R2.5k for al 4. Was very sceptical but i havent had any problems with them, and its been almost 6 months now. Call adrian 0731598384

Remember a few years ago.... 2005... EVERY new bike and EVERY shop had Larsen TT's on.... now it's Crossmarks...

People ride what Probike import and push... Maxxis makes many tires which will be great for racing here but they only import the so so ones...

Like ie... Larsen TT 1.9 Exception series... Oriflamme semi slick... Worm Drive UST... all great tires and some much lighter than Cross Marks/TT's

I raced Crossmarks for one season and went through 4... I loved them at that stage because they were fast at 2.8 bar on hard gravel... But at low pressure they're so-so and not fast tyres at all...

My fav setup at the moment is 1.9 Smallblock 8 DTC (420g) rear (full susp) and Spez Fast Trak 2.0 front (460g) the Spez is a fantastic tyre!

Crossmarks were good value for money when they were R185 for foldable and R285 for UST... (not long ago... remember the Bicycling mag add where they went up R150 from one edition to the next... and that was before the Rand weakened...)

Before I pay R500 for a Crossmark I'd rather import Schwalbes or Spez or Hutch myself...
