Re-Branding=Phase out old chips eventually=more money for them = another rip-off!!

Sound like drivers licences, every few years they need to "upgrade" the system, and we all have to replace our licences!

The WT chips were rubbish anyway, two of mine have fallen out of the holder and got lost, my wife has lost one and my mate one, so out of three people we have paid WT R200.00 for replacements which should never have fallen out in the first place.!

Great business.

I have had my Champion Chip for donkeys years, I run with it, cycle with it and its perfect. !!

I guess that WT are no longer going to be winning. The New chip looks like it no longer has an ankle strap, so you have to fit it to your fork. A bit of a bugger if you have more than one bike

Ooooo!  Ouch

I've had no probs with either, but is it really necessary to change the chips. Here's a suggestion to WT. When we register at our next event, have a rep swopping them out and registering them at the same time. I am sure that the transponder(?) inside could be re-used. That way the new branding gets out there, and we do not have to fork out another R400 (wife and I)

On Sunday at the Argus Mtb race, one of the race organisers was putting an orange chip onto his wife / friends bikes.  Someone asked about the chip and he said that they were busy testing new chips - the orange ones are made locally, as opposed to the current imported chip.

The plot thickens...
