I have a road saddle on my MTB.

My theory, if you are comfortable, then use whatever saddle you want. Just be comfortable, no sores, etc.

I ride with a road saddle on my MTB, a Sella Italia Flight Carbon. Never had a problem, but i do know another hubber that snapped an Arione in half on his MTB!

The only thing that make a saddle a MTB saddle is a bit of protection. They are normally synthetic and have tougher/thicker material around the edges. Otherwise, get whatever you are comfortable on. A bit more padding is nicer to absorb the bumps.
