Maybe the pads are glazed, so I'd try the following:

- take pads out and rough them up a bit (or use some sandpaper).

- use some copper slip on the back of the pads where the piston engages them.

Did you replace them with Shimano, or after market generics?

The sand paper trick does help in some cases. It worked for me for a couple kms then reverted back to squeaking. This is where the V-brake guys get all excited. Previous pads had no such issue in my case as well.

You can also try using a Disk brake cleaning spray, don't get it from you LBS, rather go to Midas or similar, much cheaper. This removes any grease/grit that may have gotten onto the pads.

Hey Oiltrash did that work?

Just an experience I have had over the past weekend ...... had some squeeling from my rear brake (Avid Juicy 5's) for a while. Used an old trick after finding one of those alcohol pads you get in little square things (I think for cleaning glasses or something), wiped the rotor with that and Bob's your uncle (no I don't want that either ....). Raced with it this past Sunday and it was dead quiet!

You are saying that you changed the pad and now it screeches. They will always screech until you bed them in.

I put new pads in the Hope M4's on my GT. I can tell you guys on good authority that a 205mm rotor with new pads will vibrate to badly that your hands go numb!

Mine screeched and I just put some oil on it. I go a lot faster now and the brakes don't make a noise anymore........ <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Honestly, put some Sunlight liquid on the rotor. It will remove all oily substances and the screeching will only last until the pads has been seated.
