Klippe Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Hi, I participated in the Half Iron Man yesterday in Vanderbijl and on the bike leg a cyclist was hit by a car (yes in the race). Are there any hubbers who know what happend or if the guy is OK? I passed just after the accident and there were bike and car parts all over. many people stopped and was surrounding the cyclist.

Klippe Posted March 9, 2009 Author Posted March 9, 2009 Was tough. Mens winner Zander Berg and not sure of the ladies. Results on www.spectrumsport.co.za. It was a well organized race (apart from the 1 marshal on the bike leg). Water points was great, good route. I suffered on the run but I can mark that down to fitness. Well represented yes, think there were about 300 participants.

AfreekduSoet Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 The run is always a toughie on that course. By the times, the swim was rediculously short (Sander Berk, not Zander Berg, in 19 something). Some of the guys swam faster on the 1.9km than they do on 1.5km swims!!! One marshal on 80-85km?? R600 entry... Glad I didn't go.

stoffel Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Also took part in the race yesterday and I really don't know what the R600 race entry fee covered? The usual crappy goodie bag, T-shirt and cheapie medal, partial road closure on the run only and now I hear someone was knocked off their bike! I must admit though that I enjoyed the race thoroughly, good swim location and great to see friends and family a few times on the 3x 7km run route.
Grantc Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 swim was shortened to accomadate the power boat racing. R 600 and no road closure - 70.3 in EL is on my schedule next year instead of Prestige
